Are the beds comfortable?

Having stayed in several different hotels and finding comfortable beds away from home few and far between we were hoping someone could give us an idea of what to expect on the cruise ship. What size are the beds and are they comfortable? Are the pull-out bed mattresses comfortable or can you feel every spring as we have found lately where ever we stay? Is the pull down bed large enough for an adult size child?

Sorry for all the questions. Thank you for all your opinions.

the pullout bed isnt really a pullout it comes down from the ceiling. The beds are very comfortable for a cruise ship, the bunk bed is definetly big enough for an adult size child.

I'm sorry I'm sleep deprived from spending two nights at the beach in one of those horrible rock hard mattresses. I should have said we were in a cat 4 with a pullout sofa bed. I also should have looked up the room on the website myself to find for myself that it is a queen size bed, so I just answered that question myself. We are still curious if the beds are at all comfortable.

Thank you!

I cruised in May and slept on the pull out bed(couch) ONCE. It was so uncomfortable! I would have rather slept on the floor. On the other hand, the pull down bed from the wall was fantastic! I never slept on the other bed so I can't help you with that one.

Generally I find the beds on board to be very comfortable, but then again I can sleep just about anywhere! As a matter of fact, on our last cruise I woke up a couple of times during the night and noticed that I seemed to have rolled towards the center of the bed, where I could feel something strange. But I fell right back to sleep without thinking any more about it. The next morning I was out on the verandah while hubby went up to do the mile deck walk. When he returned, he said, "Where's the bed?" Turns out they had taken half of it away! The stateroom hostess had reported a problem at the end of the previous cruise and they had come to fix it without my even realizing they had been there! Hubby and I got a real laugh out of that...it was all put together again when we returned from the spa later. But I guess that shows that I am not fussy about my sleeping area...I didn't even realize anything was wrong!

When we cruised last June, we had a cat. 6 with our 2 kids...because hubby and I wanted to be able to enjoy the verandah at night and watch some tv also after kidos went to bed, we gave the queen bed to the kids, and DH and my self used the couch/bed and pull down bed...I slept up top on the pull down and it was wonderful...very comfortable! Hubby slept underneath me and also thought his was extremely comfy also..only problem is getting out of the top bed in the middle of the night...alittle tricky with the ladder! I loved waking up and looking out the curtain at the ocean! When we cruise in June 2003, we are doing the same sleeping arrangements except we will have the queen bed split into twins for the kids...for us it worked out great being able to enjoy the verandah and "living area" at night while kids were sleeping on the other side of the curtain.

Although we took the more traditional route of Mom & Dad in the queen and kids in the two other beds (cat 6 - verandah) we thought they were comfortable. DH is sitting here with me and agrees.

BTW Jobro2 - which June 2003 sailing? We're on the June 21st Western

Thank you for your posts, I feel better knowing there are people out there who slept comfortably! If the pull out couch bed is too uncomfortable I'm sure they would give us a couple extra blankets to soften it a bit and hide the springs.

Warning for really tall kids: my 6-foot-tall, 15-year old DNephew found the bottom "bunk" (pull-out couch) too short for him. (But his 5 foot 4 brother fit just fine.) The tall guy was very comfortable on the top bunk... he just let his feet dangle off the end! (Couldn't do this on the bottom because the couch bed has a bit of a "lip" at the head and foot...)

I never sleep well in hotels but slept great in the bed on the ship and I was sleeping with 2 children.

I thought the queen bed on the Magic was one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept on. In fact one of the things I am looking forward to on our next trip is the comfortable bed!
