I agree to some extent. But if cars start getting vandalized at Disney, that would be terrible for guests and Disney, too. Disney as a brand has relatively more to lose than my local Publix, in my opinion.
Having more visible cameras and notices that guests are under surveillance in the lots would improve the perception (and reality) of guest safety. The "security theater" practiced by the resorts at the gates is sometimes annoying, but I'm sure it improves perceived and actual guest safety. Reminding guests that they are being watched in the lots would do the same.
