Are some ECVs easier to transport than others?

I will be 8 weeks post-op from hip surgery for our trip so I think it's safe to say and ECV is going to be my new best friend. We are planning on renting from off site and having it for the week... but I was wondering if specific models are easier to transport than others?

We are staying on-property but have our own car. While I plan on using Disney transportation some, I would prefer to try to transport my wheels if possible. Are there models that fold or come apart and fit in a car?

If using Dis busses is there an amount of time I should add due to needing to get on with the ECV? We have an 805 ADR at CRT our first morning and I was hoping to drive but if we can't transport ECV will I need to board a bus from POR even earlier?

TIA!

Some ECVs can be broken into pieces, the smallest of which generally weighs about 35 pounds. They can take up quite a bit of space, especially with a captain's chair.

I'd be really tempted to take Disney transport for your ADR, especially given the parking situation (diassemble scooter, driving to the MK lot, parking, assembling scooter, and then monorail/ferry and then going back later vs. Disney bus straight to the MK.

I think you probably should plan to leave the resort a few minutes before 8, unless the MK has EMH, in which case you may want to leave a few minutes earlier. You also want to be at the first pickup stop @ POR- that'll help ensure there's space for the ECVS.

Apple Scooter has the travel take-apart Pride Gogo. The whole thing only weighs 97 pounds. It breaks apart into 5 pieces. The heaviest piece is the seat which is only 28 pounds.

It has a 10 mile charge. We have taken mine to WDW parks - the charge lasted all day. One day we made a game of assembly & disassembly. My daughter can assemble one in 22 seconds. She's awesome! :goodvibes

I appreciate the information! I am new to this and after reading the board know that a trip can be 100% better by making sure my ECV ducks are in a row.

SteveMouse - I think you are right it would be easier to do ECV on the bus. I am thinking that DD, MIL, and myself might just hop on the bus and head over to MK ahead of the rest of our group to make sure we get there and so DD can get some of her energy out while we wait for gate to open. DH and fam can drive over and park at TTC... given it's an early start for part of our group, I anticipate them running a little behind so this way they aren't dependent on busses but I can ride in style. :)

I Love Pluto - I will definitely look into Apple! I like the weight and breakdown description and DH would LOVE the challenge of assembling/disassembling quickly. Thanks!!!

Your ECV will definitely be "your new best friend". Your entire group will have a much better vacation - because you CAN keep up with them.

Have a great vacation! :thumbsup2
