Has anyone stayed in a room at AKL or WL where your door overlooks the lobby?(hope that makes sense) Not on the same floor as the lobby, but higher up. Those are standard view rooms, right?

We stayed in a standard view room on the 4th floor at AKL that was down the hall from the lobby, but I was thinking it would be neat to walk out of your door and see the lobby b/c it is so pretty.

But my bf said he thinks it would be noisy- you would hear all the people in the lobby all day long. Is it loud? or no more noisy that any other room (since kids are always running down the hallways)?

Its my understanding that during the day it is very load, and up until around 11 p.m. during the evening. :hourglass

If the construction is anything like the CR than it should be fine. We stayed on the 11th floor and the only time we heard any noise was when we came out into the hallway. At night the hallway was very noisey between Chef Mickey's and the 4th floor bar, but inside our room it was silent, well as silent as it can be with a 2 & 4 year old. LOL

Yes, very loud. I believe we were on the 4th floor and could hear the secreams coming from the restaurant up until about 11pm.

I'd have to agree. We stayed at WL overlooking the lobby, and while the view was cool (i.e., looking down over the lobby), it was quite noisy very early in the AM and very late into the night--11PM or midnight, I'd guess. It's a cavernous lobby and the noise just reverberates all over the place. We loved WL, but next time we'll ask to stay further out.

I agree also, it can be noisy, especially with Whipering Canyon Cafe downstairs...it gets loud there, particularly in the evenings.

I guess we must be deaf or turn our tv up really loud. We were on the 6th floor at WL overlooking the lobby (check in desk side) and never heard anything while we were in the room. It also wasn't that loud even in the hallway.

We had a room off the lobby as well on the 6th floor and never had any problems with noise either. We were overlooking the pool, right in the middle of the "u" shape.

We had no problems with noise either. We were on the 5th floor above the registration desks and across from WCC. From time to time we could hear WCC cheering etc., but it wasn't disruptive. We also did not go to bed terribly early either (it was July). I wouldn't be afraid to give it a try. It sure was a pretty view and cool for the kids when we werre coming and going from the room. You are not there forever...go for it !!

How do you get the room overlooking the WL lobby? Special request or luck of the draw?

Have it in your requests and cross your fingers... There are not that many of these rooms, so they are hard to come by, but it never hurts to ask for one :)

To the original OP we did not have problems with noise. We were on the 5th floor overlooking the courtyard area with the pool. You could hear WCC sometimes, but for us it was never at a time of day that was bothersome (to us anyway). I guess if you are right over WCC it would be louder than it is over the front desk or the courtyard.

We've stayed twice in an upper floor overlooking lobby room. The 1st time it was perfect as we were actually upgraded to a courtyard view (pool/lake) and it wasn't noisy at all (5th floor).

The 2nd time it was (6th floor) over the WCC and it was very noisy. Not only was it noisy from WCC but it was also noisy on the balcony from the restaurant equipment. Though we had an excellent fireworks/CR/monorail (through the trees) view.
