Are room requests more difficult to get at some resorts?

After reading several threads from folks checking into BWV and VWL and hearing how they have difficulty getting ANY of their requests....I was wondering if this is a problem at these two resorts only or if it is DVC system wide. We have never made any very specific requests at OKW, but have never been dissapointed either.

Actually, I think that you have answered your own question. Since you don't make specific requests, you are unlikely to be disappointed.

Also, at BWV, there are many more things that you can request than at OKW. Near the elevator, overlooking the Boardwalk (but not near Atlantic Dance!), on an upper floor, able to see the fireworks, etc. Plus I'm sure that most people are requesting the same thing, a Boardwalk view. So it's no wonder that lots od these requests aren't met. Compare that to OKW, where I'll bet most people pick an area and a floor, and that's it.

That is kind of what I thought. I really don't find any area at OKW to have serious down sides. I can understand how elevator locations and different views can cause a lot of consternation.

hi: i did request bwv a couple of times when preferred view was all that was available (but not at the 11 month mark), and i wasn't able to get this particular room. did it ruin my day or vacation? heck no- i was at wdw! usually i try to get standard view and request an upper floor, non-smoking room. i did request close to an elevator for my mom once who was having trouble walking, but the room was about 25 doors away. this wasn't a problem since the front desk gave us a wheelchair for my brother to push her around in. i think the more specific the request, the harder it will be to satisfy. i guess it just depends how important it is to the requester.
