Are people REALLY having a hard time getting ressies for Christmas time this year?

why do people do day to day at 11 month out, isn't easlier on ms if you book the whole vacation at one time, what am I missing here? I am getting conserned that at 11 months I won;t be able to get the week I want for a fmily t SSR in erly Dec next year.

Like with most things you have to take what you're given. Your fear you can't get what you want is exactly the reason people call day by day. You likely don't need to for SSR unless you possibly want a GV, even then I doubt it'd be an issue if you waited and scheduled it all at one time. The question is whether you're willing to take the chance.

MS often counsels DVC owners to call day by day if it is for a busy time of the year.

In our case (December 23 - 30 at VWL), we had absolutely no flexibility on the dates, and not really much on the accommodation type. So I called day by day. MS doesn't mind (after the first day it is a 30 second call) and I had much more peace of mind that I was giving my family the best chance to get the dates we want.

I don't think you'll have a problem at a resort the size of SSR by making the one call at 11 months from checkout. But early December is a busy time for DVCers. You can decide for yourself which way you want to go.

I just bought in to DVC in April, and about a week after we got home, I called to book my NYE trip (December 26-January 1). I got December 26 preferred view, December 27-31 BW view and nothing on the night of December 31 (these are all 1BR's). So, I waitlisted a BW view for 12/26 (it came through in early June), and booked a 1BR at BCV for the night of December 31 at the 7 month window. I'm still waitlisted for a 1BR BW view for 12/31. Fingers crossed that it comes through!
