I'm going to WDW in 2 weeks and am a little nervous about going to the China section of Epcot. Anyone else feel that way?

why would sars have anything to do with Epcot and the China pavillion any more then the place next to it ...or the lagoon area.....Just go and have a good time...we just returned from Disney and we had a magical time.....watched the shows in World Showcase and the chinese acrobats were fantastic.......

Certainly not! I was at Epcot daily a couple of weeks ago and spent lots of time in the China pavilion. I wasn't nervous in the least and I can't imagine why anyone would avoid ANY pavilion at Epcot.

I think it is a ligitimate question. We plan to avoid the chinese restaurant at Epcots WS. I have read enough about Sars to know it is very easy to transmit from one person to another. Hopefully it will never reach the parks but an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!

You know, you should probably skip World Showcase altogether.

It's obvious you have to boycott France and Germany for going against the US on the Iraq thing. And don't bother with Mexico for the same reasons...we give 'em NAFTA and look how they repay us! If you're going to avoid China because of SARS, you should probably stay away from Japan and Canada too, they have outbreaks there as well. You'll wanna steer clear of the UK because of Mad Cow's disease. Walk right past Morocco since that's where the terrorist Zacharias Moussaoui hailed from. Speaking of terrorists, to be safe don't go near the American Pavillion either, it could be a target. And the Achille Lauro cruise ship came from Italy. Now that Abu Abbas is in custody I wouldn't go near that pavillion. That leaves you with....umm....Norway. But then to get to Norway you have to go past Mexico or all the other countries if you go the long way. So again I say you skip World Showcase altogether.

That is the funniest thing I have ever heard. We live right outside Toronto where there is quite a large breakout of Sars. I would never even think not to go to a Chinese Restaurant here let alone in Epcot. If you are that nervous about it you should avoid Disney and all other parks completely since those people in the China pavillion and Canadian pavillion will have spread their germs all over the park.

wdwoldtimer: your response is priceless

You're a few weeks late with this thread --

you should have posted it on April Fool's Day, cause it's purely a joke...

If that is not discriminatory I do not know what is.

I would have to agree with you OT but why stop there. I just got a new JVC 51 inch Sony widescreen made in Japan, should I get rid of it? Oh, oh, my wife drives a Honda:confused:

Damo....I was at Mandarin last weekend in Mississauga and I couldn't realize why it was almost empty!! Then the penny dropped! It was a Friday night and about 25 people in the place total! I didn't even think of it...but I guess others did.

As for China in Epcot...I would have no concerns visiting. If it's people being there that have recently been to China that bothers you...well, they could be next to you on the plane/train/bus/monorail that gets you there...or even in the Canada pavillion...we cannot possibly isolate ourselves from everyone because we just don't know where everyone has been and with whom they have been in contact.

Scary...but common sense prevails here. JMO....

If I were going to Epcot this weekend, there would be a good chance that I would give everyone I came in contact with this flu type thing I have. The flu can be deadly. How would you avoid me?

I wouldnt bother going to WDW at all if you are worried about getting it... or at least make sure you stay away from any asian tour groups....  Good luck....

Thanks for a serious answer to an honest question. I was not attempting to be disrespectful to China. You are probably right about the possibility of people being anywhere who have just came from China. Those here who think it is a big joke, evidently haven't been watching the news.

But you're making a big assumption here - that the Chinese people working in the China pavilion have been to China recently. And even if they have, they are coming into contact with thousands of people - both guests and other CMs throughout the park. If you're really that worried about it, I'd say stay home.

You're kidding, right?!!! Is this a joke?!!!

Actually, I would have to agree with Muffy. I too, would avoid the Chinese restaurant . . . but only because the food over-priced and terrible!!!

:p :p

Sorry buddy but I have lived in Toronto and surrounding areas my whole life. I watch the news, be it CTV, CFTO, CBC, Global what ever. I listen to the Fan 590, Roger, Rick and Marilyn in the morning along with the Bill Carroll show on CFRB, so please do not tell me that I have not been watching the news. It is just that if we all use some common sense we would stop this thing going on. I am talking about idiots who report to HP to work when they have been asked to be quarantines and stuff like that. If you listen to the news then you know that you must go on with your life but just take precautions. There were 19,000 plus people at the ACC last night to watch the Leafs, thank God they were not afraid to go.
