It's because we order our food with our brains... unlike some other people we know.

Cardiac nurse here. It's the first I've heard of it. Don't find it upsetting, just stupid. If I were to go to that restauraunt I would be picturing them trying to do my job for real. That would amuse me while I munched the fries.

I think I am with declansdad on this, I am not sure how the actions of a few actually demean me (as a woman). I would be guessing that maybe some think that women acting a certain way may give the impression that all women are like that? Or make some poeple respond to women in a negative way because of the actions of a few?

But, the way I see it, anyone who would assume all women are represented by the actions of a few are ignorant and there is no way to reach them anyway.

Some women kill their infants, some women sell their bodies, some women lie, cheat and steal. I think I represent me and other women cannot define or demean me.

As a former waitress (in college a million years ago) I wore a very skimpy leotard outfit, served beer and boubon to obnoxious men (mostly) and made lots of money in a relatively short time.

Guess what, if they had asked me to wear a nurses outfit I would have. And I am not a slut. I really think way too much is being made of the outfits here. I'm pretty sure those waitresses dont think they are being "slutty" either. Actually, if I was skinny enough to wear one of those outfits now, I just might try to get a job there!

I'm sorry but I don't. Just like I don't think Chippendale dancers are demeaning to all men. It is a personal decision to act or dress the way you do and why that would send a message about an entire gender, I don't get.

No I can't.

My point in making the statement though is that the nurses are upset b/c they were are a parody of nurses. But if it was a police officer or a french maid, as a collective unit, they wouldn't bat an eye.

So I think despite the fact that I woudln't go to the restaurant, just the mere fact they are playing dress up with one profession is not enough to get up in arms over. It's all or nothing. Can't cry foul b/c you don't like one costume but then ignore all the other places and not protest them.

But I have to say that if I were a Nurse, I'd be far more worried about safe working conditions, adequate training, funded pensions, fully staffed hospital floors that didn't leave me taking care of 12 very ill patients all at once -- etc etc etc than this bit of silliness.

Well, quite frankly we all are more worried about that, but no one in power (and that includes governement officials, hospital administrators and any other people who "make the rules") seem to care a flying fig about what dire starits healthcare is in.

They'll start to care when they reach the age of needing more medical and hospital care. By then it'll be too late.

As far as this restaurant...I don't care what you eat...if you eat like a pig and are hospitalized, I'll take care of you and try to save you from yourself. And as far as the "slut nurse" portrayal...if you don't act like a slut, it's not an issue and I have bigger fish to fry in my life than to worry about what some hayseed diner owner is doing.

I am not PC by any mreans and am not easily offended, but this is offensive.

Most anyone that is a nurse will tell you the comments that have been made to them because of this kind of portrail (sp).

i am a nurse, and i can tell you that this "kind of portrayal" had absolutely nothing to do with rude or suggestive comments that i have received. some people are just rude and suggestive and they don't need an excuse.

Doesn't bother me. I cut down one of my old uniforms one Halloween and dressed as a slutty nurse for an adult only party.
