Hi everyone

I am thinking of planning a trip to disney next spring/fall when my boys will be almost 4, almost 3, and 1 1/2. I'd love to take them to disney but am afraid they are too young to really enjoy it. I have not been to Disney in a while so I am a bitr out of touch with what's there for such young kids. Will they enjoy it at those ages? Any experience well appreciated.

Also, if they are NOT too young where is the best place ot stay IYO??

Thanks very much

JC

Oh my goodness! Those are the PERFECT ages to take your children to Disney World!! Believe me - you haven't lived or experienced true joy until you've seen Disney World through the eyes of a 3 year old!!!!!! It's a memory you will never, ever forget.. :flower:

As for accomodations, I think I would choose Pop Century.. VERY colorful and whimiscal - a place the children would really enjoy..

Go! You won't regret it!! :flower:

We just took our 4 and almost 2 year old last month-it was fantastic! They had a great time we were able to do pretty much everything ( no thill rides like space mountain, rock n rollercoaster...) they loved seeing the characters and well pretty much everything! Definately not too young if there is such a thing! :wave2:

They are absolutely NOT too young to enjoy Disney! We took our oldest DS for the first time when he was 2. We are heading back in two weeks now with both boys DS4 (will turn 5 while we are there) and DS7months. I am so exicted to watch our youngest get excited from all the commontion! I played the Disney Theme Park CD for him while I was pregnant and til this day when he hears the music he squeals and jumps up and down! It is an amazing experience to see Disney through your childs eyes! Get your older two disposable camera's...it is hilarious to see the pictures from their POV when they come back!

Thank you very much. Any thoughts on Beach Club Villas??
--------------
My thought is they're pretty darn expensive.. LOL But if you can afford them and you have your heart set on them, sure - go for it!

Makes me so happy when I hear about parents taking little ones to WDW.. The ages you are speaking of are truly the "magical" years.. :flower:

IMO, no one is ever too old or too young for Disney. There is something there for everyone! Beach Club villas would be great! The location is fantastic! Storm along Bay is the best pool onsite. My oldest one was 18 months on his 1st stay at the Beach Club. The pool was perfect. At the wading area, he could dig in the sand. The convenience of being close to Epcot and MGM is great! He never reallly liked MK, because he was scared of thunder and darkness, and most of the attractions at WDW have one or the other. He loved the shows. Now we have a 13 month old, who just loved WDW. He loves the lights and colors, the characters, and the music. So far, our baby has stayed at POR, Pop, All star Music and Movies. Coming up in the near future he'll stay at All Star Sports and another trip to POR for Labor Day weekend. The 11 year old prefers to stay at POR because of the pools. For the baby, it hasn't made a difference where we stay. However, we have noticed there is a bit more room at POR than the values once we get the pack n play, stroller, etc, in the room. Beach Club Villas would have even more room!

Sounds like it would be a great trip. I'll start looking for deals now! Also sounds like I could even go this fall and it would still be great. Thanks

Anyone ever rent DVC points? Experiences?? Thanks...it seems a lot cheaper than booking through the hotle itself. Why is that???

I just rented points for OKW (2 bdr villa) for 10 days, and I saved around $2,000.00. The total cost through disney $4,410.00 (without taxes and value season) vs. $2,660.00 through DVC rented points and if you want the magical express service you can have it too.

Good luck!!

My daughter was just below 2 when we took her to Disneyland last year, and although she may not remember things that we did on her own, we did take pictures and had the camcorder, so she will be able to have memories from those. She did enjoy the boat ride for It's A Small World, the merry go around, .... We will take her to DCA this weekend and since she watches Playhouse Disney, she will be happy to see Stanley, Jojo....and she now remembers and is able to tell everyone about her trip.

I first went when I was 2. They video taped a lot of it, and I could tell I enjoyed myself!!

We went last month with DS2 and DS4. They had a ball. They only thing I think we did wrong was trying to do to much. We may have overwhelmed them. We went to WDW parks 4 days and Sea World one day. They would have been just as happy staying at the resort. We found we needed two days for MK and they seemed a little happier on the second day going to a place they were familiar with. Repitition is the name of the game at that age. I would definately reccommend at least one character meal. My 4 year old liked the characters better at the meals and just wanted to look at them from a far at the parks. The 2 year old, hugged them and smiled anywhere. Take time for the small stuff. Playing in the fountains, Mickey and Minnie's house, looking at the animals, etc. It is definately not too young. It seemed to take a few days after we were home for them to process everything and start talking about it, but they have probably mentioned something about it everyday since. I would be happy to answer any questions you might have. Happy planning!

No age is a "bad" age to take a kid to WDW. My son was 1.5 when he first went and I enjoyed every minute of it. Don't expect a lot and you will get much.

When you rent points, you are renting them from a DVC owner, who is willing to make a reservation in your name in exchange for an agreed upon price (usually in the neighborhood of $10 per point.) When you deal directly with Disney, you are renting a room at rack rate, (or less if you happen to have some kind of discount, but I don't think the DVC villas often have discounts - anyone know about this?) So a room that rents for $450 a night from Disney might "cost" the DVC owner 28 points, which would translate to $280 for you. It can be substantially cheaper, but you do have to do the legwork to find the owner, rent the points, and trust that both sides of the deal will uphold their bargain. Check out the DVC Rent/Trade board for many options and a great place to ask questions!!!!

Our dd will be 3.5 at the time of our trip..well a little over 3.5. We are SO excited to take her..I agree..can't wait to see WDW through a 3 yo's eyes!!!

Have a great trip!
:cool1:

Our DS was only 17 months the first time we took him. Does he remember even a day of it? Nope, but Mom and Dad do! He had a great time, mostly riding the escalators at the Contemporary and riding the monorail. We wouldn't trade those memories for triple the money we spent! - even when people asked us if we were nuts for taking a baby to Disney!

He remembers more about our 2003 trip when he was 3 - watching the videos helps. And now he is anxiously counting down til we leave in July.

I say, take your babies and enjoy every second of the vacation with them.

My son has been at 1 years old, 1 1/2 years old and now coming up 2 1/2 years old.

My DD started at 2 1/2 and has been 5 times since.

Son probrably won't remember but that's OK, expressions on kids faces are priceless, stay at any resort it'll be great.

Have Fun

I think those are great ages to go! We took our 10, 4.5 & 2.5 yo kids last November & I think the 2.5 had the best time of all! He still remembers many details & enjoyed everything. I think a lot depends on the personality of your kids. We would never have taken our 4.5 when she was younger because she was just then growing out of her tantrums & still very sensitive (wouldn't wear glasses for any of the 3D shows) & overwhelms easily.

That said, we had such a great time that we're going back same time this year while they're still young enough to believe the magic! Our now 11 yo is starting to hit the age where she won't enjoy the same activities much longer so we're taking advantage of the time now. Luckily she's not a thrill seeker so we all enjoyed most of the same stuff last time.

Have a great time & keep plans loose. Last year we picked our top 4 things we wanted to see each day then fit other attractions around that schedule. Made for a relaxing day although we missed a bunch, we knew we at least hit our top favs.

Thanks for all the great advice! Off to the rental board to try to plan my trip!
