Are my children too young for autograph books?

My children will be5 and 3 when we go to the world in December. Should I buy them autograph books?

The first time my daughter went to WDW she was 2.5 and as soon as she saw all the "big kids" getting autographs from the characters she had to get a book and be just like them. One of the nicest things about the books is that it extends the time the kids spend with the characters and encourages more interaction. Hope you and your children have a magical trip!

I think that is the perfect age. Our kids did them for the first time at 2.5 and 3. At 3.5 and 4.5 they had baseball hats autographed.

Yes, they are the perfect age the will have fun with it. But of course you will have to help them when giving it to the characters like opening to the page for them and making sure your pen is ready. We have gone to Disney when each of my boys were 2 and a half and we gave them both books. They had a great time with it. I saved the books as memories for them for when they get older, it's so cute because it has their little scribbles in it. :lovestruc

FWIW - When my kids were 3, they were afraid of approaching many of the characters. They did have books, but they usually had an older sibling or someone else get the signature.:)

This is a very helpful thread, as I too was wondering about autograph books for my boys for our upcoming trip. They will be 4 and 3 in December, and I will definitely be buying the autograph books for them.

Do you all have some good ideas for books? Other than the Disney ones, or are those the best? And what kind of pens is easiest for the characters?

Thanks!:)

My kids were 2 & 5 when we went & they loved their autograph books. Its a wonderful opportunity for a little cast interaction & they loved looking at their books.
Be sure to have the book opened to the right page & ready. Especially for the characters with gloves & such its a big help.

My DS just turned 2 in July. If he is not scared of the characters, then I plan on buying him one, if hes scared, we'll wait till next year and try again:goodvibes

My 4yr old was leary of some of the characters shes never seen before but with the autograph book she got over the fear and then became buddies. Like it was a safety net or something she was so excited to get another autograph.

So its a perfect age for them

ds will be 3 during our next trip, I was thinking he was too young but I guess not! He does like to do what the big kids are doing. I have heard about nice custom made books. Project! That will keep me busy untill discount codes come out!

I think it's a great age, and maybe have books on hand (not expecting much) just in case the kids aren't interested in autographs (or goodness, have character-issues!)

My toddlers, almost 3 and 4, went in spring (first trip) and could not get enough character meets. But the had no interest in the books. Our friends have an auto book full of sigs and my kids don't even glance at it.

I might ask them for next trip (December) and have one on hand (you know how kids can be no-yes-no-yes :rotfl: ). But so far it's just not an interest here.

I bought my DD3 & 6 little books from the dollar store because I didn't know what their interest would be and didn't want to shell out a fortune on Disney books! My girls LOVED it, for my little one, she was a little timid with the characters in the beginning of the week but by a few days, was pushing her sister out of the way to get to them! :rotfl:

We used Sharpies-they say fat pens work best and we have a ribbon ties to the lid, so when they were in line, they would open it up and be ready to go pretty easy.

Good luck!

My DD loved getting autographs at that age and we had two 4 year olds in our group this summer and they loved it as well. I think your children are prime age. In my experience, by about 7 or 8, they still enjoy the characters but don't care as much about the autograph.

My kids have the disney books, and also some from walgreens in kissimmee. They have great spiral bound autograph books for 1/2 the price. They are really just note pads with disney charactors. I also buy several of these to bring home each year to keep in my purse. We have also used them for little gifts to bring friends back home.

Also get a fat pen for each child. It is easier for the charactors to hold.

I guess I'm in the minority here. Our first trip was in April with my boys 3 and 5yo. I did bring 2 autograph books, but chose not to use them. Since this was their first trip, I let them just interact with the characters, play/hug them, and take pictures. They didn't seem to notice other kids getting signatures. I'm actually glad that we didn't do it. My boys were not afraid of the characters and immediately intereacted with them, so that helped a lot. I may have used the books if they were timid.

However, we have another trip coming up in mid October, so I will debate about using the books then.

I didn't get one for son until he asked. He was almost 5 and really wasn't even too into it at that point.
