If so I missed the memo. My school is taking students to Chicago to see either the Art Institute or the Field Museum in a few Saturdays. You think I could find someone to go with me? NO! everyone I talk to is like ‘Museums are lame’. What I don’t get is I’m the only one in my history class that wants to go. Why are they taking the freaking class if they don’t like History!? I mean I’m not a huge fan of history but I enjoy museum. It’s pretty lame that the teacher was trying to bribe kids into going to Chicago for food and stores. Anyways am I the only dork that likes museums?

Not at all, I love museums and I'm a business major! I can't stand the people that go into programs they have no interest in. There are so many people that want to be accountants in my program, that hate math. :confused3 I mean, I'm not in love with math or anything, but it's a bit of a given that by going into international business you might have to do a couple of simple equations... And the ones that want to go into international business, but can't stand other cultures. Who the heck told them to go into international business when there are plenty of domestic business courses at this same college??? Whoo, and there's my rant for the day! :teeth: But ya, seriously, I adoooore museums! So you totally aren't alone!

thanks briar_rose_59 for responding. i guess you and i are the only people that like museums since there were 40+ looks at this thread and yet no one responded. *sighs* Do you want to go to chicago museum with me then? lol

I am required to go to them all the time (perks of an art school) I think I've been to MoMA about 4 times already and I've been in school three weeks.

I LOVE MUSEUMS!!!! SO MUCH!!! So you definately aren't alone in your love for museums...there was a Star Wars exhibit at a museum in Dallas this past couple of months, and I so wanted to go (museums and Star Wars, can it get any better?!) but could never find the time...grr...

So yeah...I love museums...

yay! i'm glad there is a small bunch of us that likes museums! i think i may have talked a girl into going with me (i bribed her with the disney store and the hershey store!) so hopefully i wont be going alone. i'm so excited for the musuem (And the hershey/disney stores):goodvibes

I adore museums, we go to the local art museum all the time, and the Science museum about 4 times a year (When they change traveling exhibits) and I love our history museum. I've never seen the exhibits, but they have living history shows every hour... exhibits on how to use historical weapons and fighting styles, children's story telling - historical figures telling tales of their lives... amazing museum.

that's very cool fey_spirit. our museum was small and didn't have much and never changed. sadly i dont think it's open anymore which is exactly why i want to go to the one in chicago! (not to mention i hear its only a couple of miles away from a disney store!)

Heck no they aren't!

I'm a history major, and one of my dream jobs is to work at one of the Smithsonians. :) I love visiting them.

im not a history fanatic or anything, but i do enjoy going to museums.. they can be pretty fun.. ive always loved looking at dinosaur fossils and such lol.. plus its really interesting to see pieces of history... i love ancient civilizations so stuff like king tuts tomb really attracts me

I love museums, usually. The highlight of my summer was getting to visit a specific art museum that I hadn't been to in years.

Sadly, last week I went to a modern art museum near my campus. The main exhibit was Disney-bashing! It was creepy, and it really got on my nerves! It was called Tragic Kingdom like the No Doubt album, and it was all about how the artist grew up near Disneyland- and how much she considered it a lie. There was an awful painting of pinochio cutting his nose off.

Another exhibit seemed to be bible-bashing. It was herd to tell, though. A lot of it was the words "The End" printed in black on white paper, and then letters supposedly from Jesus to his publisher. I'm Jewish, so Jesus-bashing shoudln't offend me, but it did.

Whatever, I'll give any museum a chance, though. If I were in Michigan I'd go with you.

Same here - I'm a history major and I would love to work in a museum. The Smithsonian would be like, the pinnacle of achievement. Hah! I live in an area with lots of small museums, and they're considered one of our biggest tourist attractions, but I think most of the "young people" think they're lame, which is sad.

onesadduck! I'm sorry you had to see something cruel such as Disney Bashing. My history teacher HATES Walt. s\She thinks he's just plain evil! It made me sad...and very angry so I wrote her a really long paper about what a good man he was. She told me I had guts to write an argument paper and hand it in with my final test because most kids would be worried that it would screw up their grade. Needless to say I am in her class once again and she has not spoke one bad word of him. :)

ps. thanks for saying you'd go with me if you were in Michigan! I feel loved now. :goodvibes

Museums are always what I look at first whenever I go anywhere - even before food!

If anyone visits Milwaukee, be sure to visit the Art Museum. The Calatrava addition is so beautiful.

jeeze all you museum lovers should live in Michigan so I will have someone to go with in the future! I decided that I really wanted to go to the museum so I paid the school today and I'll be on the bus next weekend by myself. oh well i'm going to have a blast!
