I am trying to plan my trip itinerary and was wondering if you guys knew if Mondays were really busy for Universal?? If so...what other day should I consider?? I also have Tues/Thurs/Sat & Sun free. We are going to be there probably the second week of May. I want the LEAST crowds possible!!!

Thanks!!!!

I think you are worrying needlessly. Early May is not a busy time. Mon-Thurs. are usually the least busy.

I know....I really am a needless worrier. I do it ALL of the time!!! LOL

Thanks so much for putting my mind at ease though. I will just stick w/the days I planned and go from there! I get into such a planning mode with WDW :earsboy: that it is hard to change that mind set!! Thanks again...

I understand because you really do need to plan for WDW. Universal does not take the amount of planning as a Disney vacation. You are going at a fairly slow time so you should be fine. If for some reason, some huge convention shows up at that time and the parks are more crowded than usual, you can just buy the express after you get there. They sell them all over the parks.

What about first week of March. Which day would be best?

The first week should be OK especially on the weekdays. Orlando schools start spring break on March 10th. From then until the end of April it should be fairly busy.

I always plan my Uni time for Mon-Wed. I have found the Uni parks to be very empty the first half of the week.

In fact, I went to Uni on Monday, Dec 5, 2005, and the place was a ghost town! I have NEVER seen any Orlando theme park so empty as I did that day; I was able to hit most of the major attractions in both parks by 3pm (had to leave for the airport); if I had been able to stay till park closing I would have been able to hit them all.

It was so empty that day that MIB was running the full pre-show, and was only running one track. T2:3D and Shrek were only playing on 30-minute schedules. I got a whole ride vehicle to myself on ET.

Mid-May will be busier than that, of course, but still not up to the summer peak crowds; you will find low crowds and short lines at all the Uni attractions.

Ah....Shrek would never run on a 30 minute schedule. It runs continual shows all day long, which is approximately every 15 minutes. SOMETIMES there can be a slight delay due to various reasons. What does happen on slower days is that the shows are simply less full.

Phamton...I'm glad to hear this about Orlando schools. Do you know many schools that are going on spring break in May??? I read a post on DC that said that the first couple of weeks in May were prime "spring break" periods for schools. That did not sound right to me...! What's your take?

I don't have a clue what spring break schools up north have. The schools in the south get out of school for the year around the end of May so having springbreak in May is pointless. I know in the south, most schools have spring break in March.

schools in the north and midwest generally have spring break in mid to late march.

some schools in the east coast follow spring break with easter.

colleges change spring break each year based on their start dates.

if you go at a time when it is spring break, go early.
how many college students or teens do you know that get up before 10 am?
many people on vacation or spring break move at a slower pace.
crowds at any park would start at lunch time for the most part.

In Louisiana, the Mardi Gras holidays begin on Saturday, February 24, and run through March 3. Does this impact Universal/IOA? I know during this time @ WDW, you see half the people from not only your town but the state of Louisiana.

That is what happens normally with both Shrek and T2:3D.

But on this day, both were on 30-minute schedules, which made each individual show close to full because there were fewer of them.

Thanks! That's what I thought....they were probably talking about college spring break..but, I would think most of the college people would go on cruises or to the beach or something!!! :hyper:

Hopefully they will not impact so much!

I've worked at Shrek for almost a year and I've NEVER seen us run on a 30 minute schedule....
