Are mods really better than value resorts?

DH & I used to stay at the Values even when we had AP's because it meant more money for dining, etc. But we splurged and tried out Deluxes and 2 of the moderates. Now we're just thoroughly in love with POR. We just stayed 2x in April in a preferred room in Alligator Bayou and absolutely loved it. We were spoiled by the quiet pool right by our room & loved going over to the pool bar & relaxing and people watching. Also the food court was great & the buses were so much better than the Values. We also loved the carriage ride that we took for my DH's birthday around the grounds. The boat trips to DTD are great & relaxing too. We're already planning another trip back in late September and want to stay in the Mansions section. We have AP's again so we just take our time at the parks & come back to the room to relax before heading out again.

last trip we stayed at pop for a night then transferred to POR for our 8 night stay. I didn't really expect to notice much of a difference but I totally did! I guess it was more apparent because we had spent a night at pop so it was fresh in my mind! The size was very obvious! I felt like it was double in size (I know it isn't but it felt like it)! The values are great! I would go back to save a buck but they have more of a motel feel whereas the mods felt like a resort! Pool is great! The landscape is lush not so concrete! We are staying at POR again in 3 weeks and I cant wait! :dance3:

I think everyone summed up the differences pretty well. To me the difference is obv too. You can go on Allears.net on the Accomodations section. They have many resort pics & videos.

Mod is my first choice. Deluxe and Value are done depending on budget or what I'm going to need from any given vacation. I've stayed at all three levels.

Queen beds

Two sinks

Coffee pots (and oddly enough I prefer the little coffee cups to the clear plastic at values :confused3 it's a weird preference but there you go)

Atmosphere ( I like a little more of a relaxing resort type atmosphere)

Covered Bus stops (though this is a toss up as the values have que's and the mods are a bit of a scramble)

Boats (well I do POFQ and they have a boat to DTD and I like that)

Hot Tubs (sometimes I use sometimes I don't but nice to have the option)

Pool slides (which I don't use but if you have kids...)

Better bath supplies. Separate shampoo/conditioner if that's important to you. (I'm not fond of H2O at all but I refuse to use the all in one at the Values)

Room size is negligible to me as is the food court/TS option, I'm happy with either value or mod food service, but you do get a few more square feet and some better choices at the MODS.

I've had three values stays and my limit is about 3 days and then I'm not as happy, but Value is entirely doable I just prefer the MODS.

Are mods really better than value resorts?

So far the answer to your original question appears to be an overwhelming YES. I would have to agree with the majority for all of the reasons already cited.

We've stayed at POP, ASMo, and ASSp. Had a great time at each and were perfectly happy there.

This time, I got the FD pin for end of August. Since even my youngest is now an "adult" according to Disney, the cost to upgrade the FD to a full TS DDP brought us very close to the price of a mod for our 6-night stay. So we decided to spend the extra $100 total and try out POFQ.

I'm really interested to see the comparison first-hand. Honestly, my thought has always been we spend so little time in the room anyway, why spend the extra? But now we'll see if we get spoiled staying at a mod!

I like the mod's better, because of less noise.

When I stay at a value, I can hear the people talking in the next room, the toilets flushing, doors slamming, and kids running up and down the hallway.

At a mod, I honestly have never heard any of the above. I stayed at POFQ a few years back, and I was wondering if we were the only people on the floor! I have stayed at POFQ, POR CBR, BWV, AK-KV, OKW, SSR, and Pop to be fair.

The size of the room and bed doesn't matter to me. I am a light sleeper, and the outside noise is what does.

A pool is a pool, whether it has a slide or not.

I have stayed at Pop the last two trips, I just had to download an app that has "background noise" to drown out the reasons I don't like staying there. :goodvibes

This post is making me feel good about our choice this trip. We did Pop last time loved it but this trip booked POR. Couldn't book a preferred room with the fd pin code so I'm a little worried about where we will be staying in the AB section (we have 5).

We've stayed at Value resorts (ASMu & Movies) and several Deluxe & Villa resorts but never any of the moderate ones. I just don't see that the Mods are much better than the values, for the price difference.

What am I missing?

Looking to book late September, 22nd for 7or 8 nights, and I'm considering a mod but not sure if its worth it. I haven't been to WDW since 2011 and so want to make a good choice!

We feel the same about Deluxe versus Mods:laughing: It really comes down to what is important to them and how much "value" they put on it.

That is perfect. It is not so much where you stay, but the fact you are there. You make your own memories.

In my opinion, the size difference is noticeable. In 2011, I initially booked DD and I at ASMu but as soon as her pack 'n play was set up I knew we wouldn't last longer than the night. It was just the 2 of us and between the pack 'n play, our luggage, and DD's stroller / diapers / other necessary baby supplies I felt like we had no room. Before heading out the next morning I called to inquire about mod availability and within the hour moved over to CSR. Stepping into that room felt like a different realm. The vanity area was very nicely appointed and large enough to stow everything, the doors closed, and we had plenty of space left to "live" for the rest of the week.
