Are Magicbands still free for onsite guests?

I was reading a thread where someone was considering purchasing a Magicband.

Are these still free for on-site guests? We stayed onsite for our last trip & we received Magicbands in the mail prior to our trip-I don't believe we purchased them. Have the rules changed?

Yes, guests at Disney resorts get their MB's for free. These are the solid color (you have a choice of 5 or 6 colors) MB. The ones you see for sale in the parks include some options for special, themed MB's.
