Are interconnecting rooms more noisy?

Here's my penny and a half. We did a b2b on the Fantasy a few years ago in a connecting room. The first week I wasn't sure anyone was in the next room. Didn't hear anyone, didn't see anyone come or go. The second week, oh, there were people. It was a mother, father, daughter and son. I would say the children were 5 and 7ish with the boy being the older. We knew when they were in their cabin. The boy was always getting in trouble with his parents. They were constantly picking at him about eating his candy, the daughters candy, even moms candy. I think he must have had a sweet tooth, but I digress. We knew from the minute they entered the room till they left. We not only heard them while they were in their cabin but they seemed to like to stop outside our cabin door and make sure they were organized.
It was noticeable. If I had a young child in my room I think it would have been hard to have nap time with the noise. It could be that they were just a loud family but it made me wonder if all connecting rooms were like this. From what I am reading in other posts here sounds like they are not however I would think twice about booking a connecting again.
