Are hours ever extended?

Just realized that for my July trip, AK closes at 5. I don't remember the park closing that early in previous trips. Is there a chance WDW will extend the closing time between now and then?

With some of the new nighttime content at DAK starting Memorial Day weekend, it's pretty near certain that summer hours will get extended. I believe they already were for part/most of June.

Yes, no, maybe so.

Disney randomly changes or extends park hours all the time based on if they'll think they'll make the extra money. I've even seen them close a park 90mins early. Based on the new night experiences at DAK, the hours are more than likely to extend. That is unless a private event or park buyout is scheduled.

Expect DAK to be open until at least 11:00 PM in July.

On occasion, we've noticed park hours increase while we are at that park that day.

Disney frequently extends park hours as the dates get closer, and sometimes they extend them at the very last minute. During our November 2015 visit, the hours at AK were extended the same day (or maybe the day before), but there were signs at the entrance that day that the operating hours were longer than what was printed on that week's times guide.

With the new evening events at AK, I'd say that you are pretty much guaranteed that the park will be open well past 5pm, because presumably, ROL will be running by then along with several other new night time shows.

In the past AK has usually always closed at 5 or 6pm. However now that their debuting their nighttime activities, from here on out the park will be open until about 9-11pm nightly.
