Are Gimbals allowed?

Hi all.

I know selfie sticks are not allowed at WDW. However do they allow gimbal iPhone/camera stabilizers for videos? It is not a selfie stick, it doesn't extend, and is not used like one, but it does kind of look like one, so I'm concerned.

For reference I am talking specifically about the DJI Osmo Mobile Gimbal for iPhone.

Thank you!

The rule says that the stick mustn't *extend*. Non-extendable ones are, by definition, allowed. (wording here: "Selfie sticks (hand-held extension poles)")

Do recall that there are umpteen people around you, many of whom would be more than happy to take a picture of you while you pose, if that's part of the reason for the non-extendable stick. :)

DH brought one on our last trip and only had an issue on one ride (I feel like it was PotC). The CM asked him about it, he said it wasn't a selfie stick and didn't extend and had no lighting, CM said he should probably put it away "just to be on the safe side." So DH put it away. We used it everywhere else in the parks and on rides with no problems.

You will be able to use it. Just be prepared to show CM that it does not extend and you will be fine.
I used a Feiyu g4 for my gopro in Disneyland and was asked many times by CM to put it away but after showing them what it was they had no problem.
Opting for the Feiyu WG this time which has no hand pole.

I bring in "handles" for things all the time with no problem. lately my camera bag is filled with all sorts of "I hope they let this in today" stuff and not had any problems.

We didn't have any trouble bringing handles for my GoPro at all. Security just asked if it would extend. When they saw that it wouldn't, they let us through. They even let me through with an extendable monopod for my big camera. They started to stop me with it at first, but I told them that it wasn't a selfie stick, showed them that the end didn't pivot or swivel. Had no trouble at all. I took that monopod in to MK, Epcot, and DHS with no issues.

Thanks all for the helpful responses! This is on my treat yo'self Christmas list and was looking forward to using it in the parks specifically, so wanted to make sure before I splurged.

@bumbershoot - it is used for taking smooth, cinematic looking videos with an iPhone, not for selfies or photographs lol. But thanks for the reminder.

Appreciate all the responses. Just bought a Karma, with the Grip, and was curious about gimballs. Our DW trip was all done with GoPro head straps since GoPoles are not allowed.
