Are Fruit Baskets a Cop Out?

I love Harry and David, and give it for gifts all the time. I'd love for it to be reciprocated once!! Mom and Dad aren't fruit/snack people, so I sent them an Omaha Steaks assortment.

No, I do not think it is a copout. You did mention you ordered photos for them, maybe you could get a digital frame and put some other photos on it. I did this last year for my inlaws and they loved it.

Thanks again for the suggestions! I decided on a nut gift basket...they always have nuts around, and I thought it was a healthy snack they would all people able to enjoy.

I appreciate the help! :thumbsup2

If it was really good fruit, I'd love a fruit basket!

My family chipped in and got my grandmother (the woman who has everything and wants nothing) the light version of the Fruit of the Month club. We've also done fruit baskets when my grandpa was still with us.

If they are fruit eaters I think it is a great present. It's healthy, non fattening and certainly not inexpensive. I would pick a pretty upscale place, not one that the local grocer has on display and throw in a bottle of wine if they like it or some coffees or teas.

I'm all for useful gifts. I know a lot of people suggested concert tickets or such but what if they really don't like going to concerts or plays? I thought I would love it but when DH and I went it was far less than I expected and we live in a pretty big theater town. I have also bought top of the line tickets for events and been very dissappointed with the location, being so far away from the stage you couldn't make out the people.

If they enjoy these things you probably could give a gift certificate for the venue or does Ticketmaster have GCs? That way they can choose for themself.

For example. We eat a lot of fruit in our house so we would love a basket. WE love movies so would also love a gift card for the local theater. DH loves wine and coffee. Simple things for us.

Good luck and they know the gift is given with love. That's what counts.

Their pears look amazing... if I got some of their pears, maybe some chocolate and anything else, I would be thrilled!

A vote for NOT being a cop out!

I think a fruit basket is a great gift. It's probably less of a cop out than a gift card.
