Are Disney prices too high?

That's true, value is in the eye of the beholder. Evidently WDW still has enough value for you to go there? We can all yearn for yester-year on all sorts of things, but bottom line WDW still appeals to the masses. It is not a Porsche-like experience (although you can make it one if you have the means and desire.)

In the 80's and early 90's park hoppers and no expiration were free. You could go through the parks as easy or easier than recent years. Its funny the core attractions at the parks have almost all been built before 2000, yet prices reflect the opposite. We'll just have to agree to disagree Disney was a far greater value years ago by my opinion yours differs!

But, to be fair, today it costs $100 million or more to build a substantial themed ride. Radiator Springs Racers, the last major E Ticket Disney built, cost between $200-300 million (probably on the high side of that estimate). Mind you, it was worth every penny, but it sure cost a pretty penny.

Disney has always been high, more so than other theme parks. I have always known it, that has not changed in my lifetime and probably won't.

If the prices stay this way for Disney to remain at the top of the theme park chain and continue to give the quality they give now, or even better, I'm good with it. I pay that much at the movies for snacks, I can pay that at Disney if I want a nice vacation.

If Six Flags had a meal pass I wouldn't buy it if it were a dollar. We've been to the one here twice and that was two times too many.

Those seats are definitely worth it once you get over the sticker shock! :) We stalked the resellers every weekend to try to find a lower price, they will drop the price a few hours before the show but you have to be ready to dash in there that minute LOL.

I am not doing that. I need to know I am all set when we go. If I was not taking my DGD, I would not care what I saw, or really where we sat, but she and I do a few things just us, and I like to make it special. I think that DH and I will have a chat about spending the night, he always thinks that makes it more fun, but I cannot find a decent room that I think is worth the cost yet.

I don't blame you, it's kind of nuts. We didn't even have time to eat and were eating fast food in the car on the way in LOL. But we did save $300 on the four tickets. Spending the night sounds nice! :)

Prices are downright ridiculous!

I honestly do believe (with no disrespect intended) that Walt would be flipping over in his grave if he knew what his "dream" had become....it no longer is a place for all to enjoy, it is designed for those with lots of money to spare which is sad

Well I wouldn't consider myself rich by no means but I love a disney vacation:yay:

Walt was in business to make money- not to spread magic around for free. He would have been thrilled to see how much money WDW (and Disney overall) was raking in.

But instead of building quality rides like Radiator Springs Racers, Disney is spending $1B+ on FP+, a system that nobody was asking for.

Yes, and yet I am still willing to pay it... though until all construction is done at DHS I may end up sending our Disney time and money at DL...

It really is, but I can't justify the cost If I see the cost go down as we get closer I will reconsider, but so far they are more than I can justify. Buddy always likes us to stay, but with the cost of the show, even with my Disney Discount, we will be spending about 440 for two tickets. The seats are really good, but by the time we pay for the train and food... Kady and I will still have a good time. We can have dinner either before or after the show and plan on going back another time. I don't want to chance the resellers because we will be planning this a few weeks out, so it's bet to save elsewhere this time. i did well with CInderella, but this ones price does not really budge!

It was never a place everyone could afford. When we took my children the first time we saved for what seemed to be forever. AS a chilld, I never got to go to DLR. My parents could not afford that trip for us. Walt provided a place that was safe and clean and where people got value for their money. WDW still does that. A family can choose to mitigate their costs in any manner of ways, and they do. It is not reasonable to believe that WDW ever was meant to be priced so that every family could afford the cost, but it does follow through on the promise that there will be a good value for the money spent. At least for my family it does.

I do not want to open that can of worms, but before FP+ there was a lot of complaining about the legacy FP. However, I think that the total cost of MDE is what you are referring to, and not that one aspect of it. There will be a lot of features that MDE offers, and after it is up and running to the potential it is intended, I am reserving judgement on that expense.

Well given all the issues with the website, missing FP+ reservations, missing dining reservations, and the occasional inability to link everything, I think judging now is the better way to do it while maintaining the right to reverse your judgment if Disney is somehow able to get their act together.

And you would be wrong. I have been going to Disney Parks since Disneyland opened. It was always about being a place for all who could afford it could enjoy it. It's always been a business first and foremost and it has always been about maximizing profit and never a charity. You can pay the price you can enter. If not, too bad.

Walt was a businessman and he operated the parks like that. Sell books of tickets but not enough E and D tickets so back to buy another book while never using up your lower value tickets. He knew how to get money out of Propke.

I would if I had experienced those problems but I am embarrassed to admit the only issue that MDE has suffered for us is me. I know that people have had problems but I never had those things happen to me. Now if we want to talk about the phones crashing etc, well I have plenty to say. LOL!

Oh my gosh, he sure did! Those silly baskets that you had to buy if you wanted a hot dog! WE spent a fortune the year we brought the kids!

I'm sorry, but what are you talking about? Disney is not spending anywhere close to $1B+ on FP+.
