Are Disney buffets still tasty/fresh up until closing time?

Well, you know how it works when you are trying to fit in buffets/restaurants at resorts to coordinate with the hours you will be at the park that is near those resorts, right? I'm just curious, has anybody been to the late & last ADR's offered for the night at a buffet and noticed its only the grubby scraps left, or common items are missing (as if they ran out or just didn't want to make more for the rest of the night) , OR it is obviously there is lack of replenishing going on? I know we've all been there and done that at our own local chinese/casino/etc buffets where you can tell they pretty much nix the cooking by, like, 2hours before closing time. I'm concern the same practices go on at WDW. Anybody know?

One more thing, you know how restaurant hours in the parks coordinate with the park hours for the day? Well, do resort restaurant hours stay constant despite early or late park closings or do they sometimes flucuate as well? Thank you so much for helping if you can!!!:lovestruc

We always eat late, whether it's breakfast or dinner. Buffets have always been fully stocked and the food is fresh. We've never had CMs rush us either.

Resort restaurants usually keep the same hours; not tied to park hours.

We have never had a bad experience with this anywhere other than Hollywood and Vine. It could have been an off night.

We've been to the Biergarten a number of times, but the one time we had a close to closing reservation (8:30), it was not a good experience. They closed down one side of the buffet which was understandable, but then they stopped replenishing the meats - the carving station closed, no more sauerbraten, etc. Now, we make our Biergrten reservation for earlier in the evening.

a mistake on my part, we ended up with just about the latest ADR for CM breakfast last trip. It was our best meal at CM. The food was constantly replenished and the characters were more available due to fewer diners. It took us less than an hour compared to the normal 90 minutes.

Later this month we have an 11:15 ADR compared to the 11:25 that time.

Would you consider 7:30 an early enough time? That's when I have it booked right now. TIA!!

Its been quite a few years since we have been there. But, we always do the last ressie of the night and have had differing experiences. The first year we did it at Chef Mickey the waitstaff actually packed up a bunch of leftover treats for us and insisted on us taking them with us. Party in the room big time.

The next year all the best desserts were gone by the time we got to them. I have also heard about oreo bon bons running out at clambake.

So now when I go, I am just a little piggy and take the dessert I really want to the table when I get there.

I have never seen the entrees depleted in anyway.

We have also done a last breakfast ressie when they have started bringing out lunch. They offered to make any breakfast item we wanted to order. So no problem there.

Yes, that's our reservation time at Biergarten nowadays and there's never been a problem. I don't know if that one time we had the late reservation was a bad night, but I'd rather go earlier and not take another chance.

Awesome! I was considering doing it later, but second guessed myself. Glad to know going earlier was the better decision. :thumbsup2

I'm glad you asked this question. I was wondering the same thing. We have a late morning ADR at Chef Mickey. There is nothing worse than paying for a buffet and only having half the selection because they quit replenishing it and what is there is cold and hard.

I hope we will have lots of choices at Mickey's. That is our only ts meal, the rest are QS.

Good luck!

For me I don't think fresh and tasty can be used when describing buffet restaurants, even at opening, and for the most part WDW is no exception. I think just about every one of the buffets in WDW are average to less than average. The only exceptions to this IMHO would be Boma and Biergarten.
