Are DH and I the only ones that get Jury Summons

Dh and I have both been summoned since we've lived here in AZ. The problem is that we were summoned to Alaska (where we are residents). I would have gone gladly if they'd have flown me up there. They excused us.

I get called about every 18mos, unfortunately my company does not pay for Jury duty so I have to use vacation time. I have never been put on a jury so I basically use one or two vacation days sitting and waiting. That's better than one of my coworkers that had to use her whole 2 week vacation when she was put on a murder case.

What state do you live in?

For all it's faults, so far it seems that Massachusetts has one of the better juror systems. Between that and the lack of tornadoes/earthquakes, it's a good reason to stay. (Now if only the housing prices would drop so those of us who've grown up here could actually afford to live here as adults.)

I just finished Grand Jury duty last week. The letter we received stated that it would most likely be for one day only. If I got picked, I planned on just using a vaction day at work, because they won't pay you for it.

Of course I ended up being picked, and was informed it would last four days. Now I'm starting to get a bit miffed, but I figured it was my duty. Day after day they paraded loser after loser in front of us as witnesses. So not only are these people screwing up our society, but now they're screwing up my time, and I'm sitting here paying to see it.

The second day of duty I told them, it's like being forced to watch "COPS" eight hours a day, and I have to keep dumping change in the slot to watch it.

They did say we would never be called back again. That's good, because (I hate to say it), I'd come up with some sort of elaborate excuse not to be there.
