Just was wondering? If you are on deck 1 or 2 and in the back of the ship, can you hear the motors?

It's funny, well - not so funny, but I used to think they were under water. They are not ;)

I think we have always been on deck 6 - as far as noise, maybe someone else can help.

there are no underwater decks on the Magic or Wonder! At least not guest staterooms! Not sure about the engine noise! :confused3

The engines are not in the back of the ship, they lie longitudinally along the center of the ship for a pretty good distance.

The "props" are close to the back, but are driven by large electric motors located well forward of the stern connected by long proppeller shafts. These shafts may be close to 175 feet long, so vibration from them could possibly noticed in the last 200' of the ship.

When in the aft restaurants, one can feel the vibrations from the props themselves pretty well, so I would expect the cabins there to hear it as well.

we stayed on deck 2
never notised any engine noise

Booked the same cabin again , we liked it that much

Heavens no, all guest areas are above water. We've stayed on both the 7th and 1st decks and enjoyed both rooms. Our room on deck one 1075 was very quite and we didn't noticed much noise. We actually thought #7548 was louder.

We've stayed on Deck 2 and loved it. We have booked Deck 2 again for our next cruise. No noise really. Just try not to stay under Rockin Bar D!

Decks 1 and 2 are NOT underwater.

decks 1 and 2 would only be under water if you were in 20 foot swells ... that doesn't happen often ;)

where is Rockin Bar D? We are booked in 2608, cat. 9, deck 2. Is that anywhere near Rockin Bar D?

This is what it looked like from our Deck 2 window last week.

We didn't hear any engine noise.

Is that a small or large porthole. It looks pretty big. I thought on Deck 2 you get two small portholes?

On Deck 2 you get one large porthole, about 3 feet in diameter. On Deck 1 you get 2 smaller ones.

That is GREAT news!! Where were you on the ship? We are just trying to find if we should be in the middle of the ship or back for movement. Thanks for the help.

Cabin 2546 is a great cabin on Deck 2....stayed in it several times and love the location...very accessible to everything.
