Are Crocs good shoes for walking?

I don't have any experience with Crocs because I kind of think they're ugly but the Disney ones have reeled me in. If they're still around next year I'll probably buy a pair for DD. However, everybody knows you do a lot of walking in the parks. Are Crocs comfortable for walking a lot?

Crocs Scutes are the most comfortable pair of shoes I've ever worn to the parks. They're a slide and I wore them everyday on my August trip. I didn't have any blisters or any hot spots. They were great. I don't know about the regular Crocs, like the Beach, because they don't fit my feet right. They are silly looking, but you get past that because they're so comfy. I have a trip in December and don't know if it will be hot enough to wear them. I have to decide what else I can wear with socks if it's kind of cold.

You MUST be new here!! There is a whole civilization based on Croc worship...they originated here on the Dis I believe...

I personally find them ugly and not nearly as comfy as Birks...but then most of the people who love them find them ugly too but swear by their comfort. I'm sure they are as good as the next shoe for park trekking. One plus is that they are rain proof and can be wiped off after a torrential downpour!

i think Crocs are the UGLIEST thing ever but DH and i gave in and bought the Athens version (they look like regular flip flops) and we LOVED them for this trip!!! we will wear them forever in WDW!!!

I first heard of Crocs on the boards and figured I would give them a try...I decided on the Professional style, which I thought would be good with jeans and khakis...

I must say, I love them!

I wear them everyday on the treadmill because they are more comfy than my sneakers!!! DFi thinks I am nuts...

Yes, they are weird looking and clunky but I still wear them! With socks they are even better...

Can't wait to get a new pair for my upcoming Disney trip!

Also, I heard that if they are a bit too small, throw them in the dryer for a few minutes and then wear them with layered socks to stretch them a bit...

I finally broke down and bought some Crocs and I can't believe how much I love them. I still think they're kind of weird looking but I am happy to sacrifice style for comfort! I get sore feet after a lot of walking and I hurt my ankle in March and it's still bothering me. My Crocs never hurt my feet and are very easy on my bad ankle. I wear navy blue ones with blue socks and jeans and I think they look OK. My sister and a friend who originally laughed at them have now each bought a pair of their own! I will be wearing them on my WDW trip in December!

I walked for a solid week in my crocs @ WDW and my feet never hurt.

I have the "flip flop slipper" type crocs which my wife thinks are ugly but they feel great.

Absolutely - it's what I use for walking in regularly! I agree with several others though that socks may make the difference between comfort and blisters. I wear them without socks for running errands, but couldn't walk distances without rubbing (for me it's always on the top of my feet and I have several different pair that all hit the same way). Just keep an eye on them if you wear them a lot because they wear down fairly quickly (if you walk a lot) and then they're VERY slippery if they get wet at all. Unfortunately, this means when we go to Disney next summer (especially with summer thunderstorms) I'll have to get some new pairs because mine are all pretty much worn down. Wait...maybe that's a positive?!

The difference between beach and caymen is this -

Beach has a size range (S 5/6 M 7/8 -- or something like that)

Caymen is a TINY bit more narrow (ha) and comes in actual whole sizes. 7, 8, 9 etc

I tried both on at the kiosk at the mall and the Caymen fit me better than the Beach.

The new Mary Janes and Prima Ballet styles do NOT have as much cushioning under the feet and people have had problems wearing them all day at Disney, so I don't recommend those 2 styles for the parks. (For everyday type wear they are fine.)

I always wore mine without socks and never got any blisters. I tried socks one evening and ended up with a hot spot (didn't blister) on the ball of my foot - but it was at the end of the day and DH was practically running back to the car after Fantasmic - so the high speed may have caused the hot spot and not the socks.

Regarding those that get blisters - my question to them is, did they get them with the correct fit? They are supposed to be big/wide on your feet. People have often said it feels like they are swimming in them - THAT is how they are supposed to fit.

I wore mine to our local amuzement park and my DH wore his $150 Nike Shox. He could barely walk the next morning because his feet and legs were hurting so bad. I, on the other hand, with my $29 crocs was perfectly fine. We ALL have at least one pair now and will be wearing them in December. I'm getting DS and myself the new Disney ones though. Oh and I wear mine every morning to talk the dog for her mile walk too.

I agree. They are supposed to be big...about 1/4 - 1/2 inch bigger around the whole foot...I read that somewhere...maybe crocs.com or zappos.com...

This info. is from Zappos.com about how Crocs should fit:

Crocs™ states these shoes should fit very loosely. The sides of your foot should not really touch the sides of the shoe. Your toes should never make contact with the front of the shoe.

Once you have centered your foot on the foot-bed: You should have about a 1/4 to 1/2 inch of space in front of your toes, behind your heel and when you lift the strap you should be able to comfortably get your finger between the strap and heel

I bought everyone in my family a pair for this past Aug trip and it was the best investment! My first day with them on was our first day in WDW and I wore them every day in bare feet...no blisters, no sore feet or aching legs. I have the beach model and never wear the strap down..there should be space around your whole foot as mentioned and you should try them on without the strap and then if you need to you can stretch out the strap to fit loosely. The best part about crocs other than comfort is if your feet get wet they dry quickly and they don't absorb any odour. It was a waste of space to bring all of the shoes we brought because no one wore anything else!

I bought a pair of Cayman's for my DS and a pair of Athens flip-flops for me because I had read such raves reviews on this board. Well, the Athens did not have enough arch support for anything other than walking to the pool. My son also only wore his to the pool because he said it rubbed his heel and it was too hot to wear socks with them.

Not everyone will find these comfortable; for me, the pair of athletic shoes I bought with the aide of a knowledgeable sales person at our running store was perfect!

After reading the threads here, I caved and bought my first pair of unarguably ugly shoes! I chose the Crocs Professional. My problem now is that they are so comfortable I don't want to wear anything else - ever. I have to wear socks with them or they start to rub on the top of my foot. Does anyone have the Endeavors (I think that's the name of the cold/wet weather style). I'm beginning to feel a bit of air conditioning on my toes when I go outside.

Now, I just need to decide on the second color!

I don't own a pair of Crocs but one of my sisters is a registered nurse (on her feet all day) and she swears by them.
