Are Cold Sores on your Mouth considered Herpes?

Does it count if I tell you that a friend I had many, many years ago had it?? She had it very bad and it was very painful. I probably was friends with her for a few years before she even told me about it. She had to have her son via C-section because of it.

Nope, doesn't count. I have a friend who got the bad herpes...from her husband! That was a fun time.

I am waiting for a DISer to say, "Yup! I've got the bad herpes!"

You are not supposed to share drinks/utensils, etc if you have herpes & fear passing it on....this info straight from a Dr's office....

I dont think anyone's picking on cold sore sufferers, the term "cold sores" is so innocent compared to "herpes", but a cold sore IS herpes....I think this is why it spreads so much...I dont think anyone w/ herpes is "dirty" its a virus...just think people need to be more honest about it to prevent spreading it to others, esp the poor little babies/kids referenced prior.
