Are CMs still able to "sign" guests in?

Back in the dark ages when I had an AP, we had a friend who worked for Disney and was able to "sign in" guests whenever they went to the park. Does anyone know if this still works, and if so, can they do it in such a way so that the guest can enter and leave, go to CA, etc?

And...how many people are they able to sign in? I seem to remember it was limited to 4?

Yes, CMs can still "sign in" guests. However, there are limitations and it depends on your position as to what those limitations are. For example, some CMs receive tickets to DLR that they are allowed to give out to friends/family. They only get a certain number of these per year. Other CMs are allowed to do sign-ins at the gate but there are a limited number of those they are allowed to do per year. There are also those who have an unlimited number of annual sign-ins but they have a limit on how many per day.

Once signed in, you get a ticket so you are free to come/go, use it for FPs, etc.

There are also blackout days for sign-ins.

Wow, things sure were simpler back in the dark ages! :rotfl:

Our friend will be going over to work at Aulani so even he isn't sure what kind of benefits, if any, he gets in the parks. Dis Hotel employees do qualify to some extent, right?

Thanks for the info!

Actually, sort of "no". They don't do any signing in.

A CM can get guests in via: complimentary tickets (and some CM's may get as few as only 4 one day hopper tickets per YEAR, given out in 2 batches of 2) or use the Main Entrance Pass. There are two levels of MEPs, those with a limited # of uses a year, and those with unlimited.

As the pp explained if the CM has a MEP they can usually get up to 3 guests the day they use it- the CM and the guests ALL have to enter the parks initially together at the same time. Keep in mind that MEPs have blockout dates, which are not in the same at all as AP blockout dates. They also don't release those dates for an entire year- (genearlly it's a few months ahead of time) so if you asked about say, a trip in November, the CM wouldn't know for sure yet what dates may be blocked.

Bottomline, while CMs do get *some* freebie tix, they don't get alot. And unless you know someone with the higher level MEPs, use the MEP entrance is going against their yearly allotment. Basically, be nice and appreciate of the CM who can get you in for free, because for most CMs it's not an unlimited benefit.

If you do get in with the CM's MEP- each person is given a 1 day hopper ticket at the turnstyle each day it's used, so yes, you can roam without them.

Good question how Hawaii will work. I PRESUME it is part of Parks & Resorts division of TWDC- and there are differences between bennies between WDW CM and DLR CMs and how all the discounts, etc work. I'd presume that the CM would get all the TWDC employee discounts which would be hotel discounts, the twice a year alotment of free tickets, and dining discounts. I have no idea if they would get a MEP or not, but I'd hedge on yes. In both WDW and DLR ... hotel employees are still part of Parks & Resorts and basically get the same types of discounts- depending on whether they are salaried/management or part-time (salaried gets a little better bennies etc).

As a Disney Vacation Club resort, Aulani, A Disney Resort and Spa is administered as though it were part of the Walt Disney World Resort, and Cast Members who work there receive benefits on par with other Walt Disney World Resort Cast Members.

Suffice it to say, the vast majority (though not all) of Cast Members, Crew Members and Employees of The Walt Disney Company and Affiliated Companies do receive some fort of complimentary admission to the Disney Parks. For more information, you can ask your CM friend to refer to internal sources which outline the full policies and procedures as pertains to the subject, or ask his or her Leader.

I've also heard of Disney Store employees getting complimentary admission passes, but I think theirs might be limited to just being able to get themselves into the parks. Can't be sure on that one though.

DTD employees receive some benefits but they get actual paper tickets. They get two tickets, two times per year.

I think that applies to Disney Store employees as well and I believe the term they use is "supplemental".

My nephew is a CM and he is able to get three of us in for 2 days. Yes, he has to go with us in the morning to get us in. He said 3 was the max he could get in for the day. I love my nephew LOL Works out well for me and my two kids :) :yay::yay:

Also, CM's are often not able to sign you into a different resort. So if a WDW CM has some sign-in privileges, that doesn't necessarily mean that they can use them at DLR. It just really depends on the privilege of each position.
