Are Children's Place clothes cut small/slim?

I bought my DD some Children's Place stuff during their after XMas clearance sale last winter. I just tried the fleece pants on her and they are skin tight. I don't think that she is going to get any wear out of them at all this winter. Are their clothes just cut very slim or something? My DD is proportionate, so I don't know why they'd be so tight. I've bought DD leggings and velour pants there before and they fit fine:confused3

I didn't pay much for the pants (under $2), so it's no big loss. I really love the fleece hoodies that match the pants, though, and I'm a little bummed that she won't be able to wear them as matching sets.

I've never noticed that they are cut especially slim. DD is very slim, and we but her jeans from CP in slim sizes- and still have to use the adjustable waist thingies to tke them in.

Maybe those particular pants were cut very small- and that is why they were on such super sale. I have a CP outlet store near me, and I have DD try on any different style items I want to get her because of the fit issue. Sometimes the reason they have so much of a particular item left on clearance is because it was a dud, sizing-wise.

they are cut to the smaller side in pants, about to par on tops and VERY small on pjs. Their dresses run a bit small too.

That must have been why these pants were left on clearance. We had the same pants in the next size smaller last winter, and they seemed to be cut much more generously. I try to eyeball everything for size since DD is a toddler and I'm buying a year ahead at those clearance sales. It looks like I didn't do such a good job on these pants:laughing: Too bad, because they're very cute.

They are cut small. My DD is VERY narrow and the CP stuff never fits. I bought ahead a season and everything but the clothes from CP fit.

Now I go across from CP to Gymboree and buy DD clothes on sale. Some of their clothes I have gotten 2 years use out of. I bought leggings in Gymboree for 5.00 and tops for under 10.

Yes, I also buy Gymboree on excellent clearance for DD! I like CP for play clothes, though, especially for $1.69 an item. The shirts/hoodies fit her fine. It's just the pants that we're having an issue with. I guess I won't stock up on pants at this winter's clearance sale.

I'm kind of surprised to hear several people say the pants are cut small, that is not my experience with them at all. I've always found them to be true to size or if anything, run a little big. My DD wears a 6x/7 in CP pants and they are a little on the big side, both in width and length. DS 10 wears a CP size 10 pants and they are plenty big. He has some CP size 8's from last year that he can still wear, he can't wear any other brand of clothing in a size 8. Now this is pants I'm talking about, shirts I find run very true to size. A size 8 shirt on DS would be too small.

My DD is an infant so I'm not sure if the size comparison would be the same for all of you with older kids, but it seems to me that the infant clothes run small. I have a few CP outifts that are 6-9 months and they fit fine. DD is in 3-6 months from everyplace else....

I too find it interesting that others say they are cut small. I find their pants to be quite a bit bigger than other lines. I usually buy a 6 or 7 for my son in most other pants, but the 5/6 pants are too big for him in CP clothes.

i think their clothes are actually cut pretty big..especially the pants. I do like that alot of their jeans have adjustable waistband.

Yup, we find them cut on the big side for my twin boys... I am shocked to hear that others find them cut small! Definately bigger fitting than a lot of the other brands out there!

The fit seems to vary depending on sex/age range. DD is pretty slim and I LOVED TCP for her when she was a toddler. I sometimes had a hard time with Gymboree being too big in the waist and stuff from Sears, Penney's, etc. just didn't work at all, but TCP fit her great. Now that DD is wearing size 5/6, I don't have much luck with TCP. There seems to be a lot of difference once they get to the big girls clothes.

For boys, I had a lot of TCP for DS as an infant, but the toddler boys pants are way too big. I have some cute navy slacks I just got for DS that I have to take back because they don't have the adjustable waist and he can't keep them up. This is with a pull up on. Once he goes to big boy pants full time, there is no way those pants are going to stay up. I have to get DS's pants at Gap with the adjustable waist.

I wonder if it's a boy vs girl clothes thing because their clothes are huge on my 6 year old DS. If it weren't for the length being too short, he could still be wearing size 4 jeans from there. He can never do shorts from there because they just swallow his legs.

This spring/summer the sizing seemed to change. All of a sudden they went from fitting generously to being super tight. My younger DD has a sturdy build, needs a plus in some brands but not in all. At Children's place, she needed plus jeans but could wear regular sized knit pants/shorts. This year she couldn't without going up 3 sizes - and then the waistband was about to her armpits.

I'm dissapointed, I've always liked the bargains from CP.

I had bought some items back in September that were on sale and I had to return the leggings. They were so skin tight and my daughter is super skinny, but she did not like the way they fit. The dress I ordered fits fine, in fact it's very comfortable, so I don't know if it was the design or what.

It really depends on who you are buying for. I find the older girls stuff cut slim similar to LTD2, but slimmer than Old Navy and Gap. Now pants for DS (16months) are huge. The 24 month size are way bigger than any other brand. The 18m is equivalent to Gymboree and Old Navy 24m. The toddler sizes seem to run very big.

Interesting that so many people find the CP clothes to run small. I've had the opposite experience - the CP shirts that I've owned for DS have always been bigger than other brands. The jeans he has are slimmer cut I think - they fit him perfectly but he's slim. I've found that lands end is always smaller and old navy and gap are usually true to size (though not in the waist of DS pants since he's small there).

I always used to find the clothes on the bigger size until recently as well. I bought a jacket recently and it was a 4T (online). It came to the house and it was SO tiny! DD could barely get it on, and she wears a 4 or 4T in most things... is very small boned and super skinny. I also bought her a few things for next summer and I hope they will still fit her then. If not, I guess DD #2 will get them when she is big enough :)

I agree with this too. DS is almost 5 and size 4's are HUGE on him. 5T fit, but are too short so I cannot at this point buy pants from TCP. I love the TCP and find their shirts pretty true to size also.

Even DH was surprised at how slim the fleece pants were cut when I showed them to him last night. He really didn't think that they'd fit DD even if she potty trains this winter and is no longer in diapers. I'll definitely keep shopping the CP big clearance sales, but from now on I'm going to take a much closer look at the actual items rather than relying on the size tags alone.
