Are Children's Place clothes cut small/slim?

My kids are super slim and we have all sorts of problems with clothes fitting. They can't even wear pants from CP because they seem to run so much larger than every other brand--even in slims with adjustable waists. Shirts tend to have to be a size smaller than they wear in other brands too. Of course, we tend to find that with Disney Store clothes too, who CP owns.

The only other brand that we have that problem with is Oshkosh pants. They are just too wide in the legs. Although, with Oshkosh shorts, we buy a size smaller than normal with slims and adjustable waists and they fit perfectly, until the end of the summer when they grow and the length becomes a little short.

Our best bets tend to be Gap and Old Navy. Tommy Hilfiger brands are also OK, but they waist is large.

On my kids, CP clothes tend to be a little big. My oldest can still fit the 3T pants and she's almost 5. It's really the size of your kids, not the size of the clothes.

Also, I used to work for CP, in an outlet store. The super-sale items are USUALLY off-sized, which is why they are super sale. The outlet CP are where the mainstream stores send their hard-to-sells, super-sales, and almost out of season seasonals. A LOT of the stuff in the outlets, therefore, are off-sized or slightly irregular. It's a crapshoot, really.

I find that they run small for older girls. For example, my DD wears a 10 or 12 in Gymboree knit pants, but a 14 in CP.

Interesting! Of course, we live in FL so perhaps fleece pants are hard-to-sell here:confused3 I still think that these are also off-sized somehow, though.

I have to agree that there clothing is cut differently than other places..I buy my daughters clothing at Old Navy, Childrens Place and Gymboree and Childrens Place is definetly more slim. My daughter is not a slim so I don't bother buying her jeans there anymore..and I am noticing that some of her T-Shirts are too tight, I think that are a cotton Spandex blend and they hug her a little more tightly than Old Navy or Gymboree clothing. I filled out a survey for them with these same issues.. So glad to hear I am not alone. The other issue I am having is all the leapord print clothing they have in stores currently..I hate it!

I've found the stuff runs super big for my son and it runs super small for DD (6 mos).

everything I buy at CP is BIG- ds14 wears an 18 boys or small/med mens clothes, and he still fits in the size 14 shorts and tees from there(the cool ones;) ) ds8 usually wears an 8 in other clothes, but there, the 8's have tons of room...

Wow, amazing how different the responses are. My 8 yr old and I spent 3 hours at the mall trying to find pants for the winter (she hates to shop so 3 hours is long). She was 55% on weight (58 pounds) 70% on height (57") at her check up in June.

I couldn't believe how hard it was to find jeans and/or sweat pants to fit her!

One stye of size 8 Gap jeans fit her with the adjustable waist band. They were on clearance thank goodness but by the end of the shopping day, I was desperate and not sure what I would have spent for one pair of pants that fit!

JC Penny, Arizona jeans - one style 8 slim too tight, another style same brand 8 slim way to big!

Childrens place 8 "fashion sweats" fit good; jeans were too big

Target 8 HUGE on her - Length and waist. 5 different styles, non fit.

Macys = 7 too small, 8 too big

We will try Old Navy next outing - I will have to bribe her, she tells me "just pick me out something during your lunch hour and bring it home".
Ha! I think not, too many returns!

I have had this problem for about 2 years now with her. I didn't think it would happen for a few years!

I think there must be some difference between the boys and girls clothes. I have some pants from TCP for my son in 6-9 month, and in just about everything else, he's in 12 months. Even with his cloth diaper bubble-butt :)

Absolutely! To be honest, I can't stand The Children's Place as I'm a Gymboree gal as they are true to size, or even roomier in some lines (here in Canada anyway, as I find a difference between Canadian and U.S. Gymbo clothes). Anyway, The Children's Place clothes are made very small, my favourite line is that they are 2 sizes too small, and despite washing in delicate, cold and no spinning as I have a brand new HE washer, they still shrink as the fabrics are cheap! Not only that, but the sizing is extremely inconsistent. I don't shop there except for uniform clothes once in awhile, but all of my friends and family who do, know if they buy us stuff from there (please give us a gift receipt!), it has to be at least one size bigger. Eg. My large newborn son can still wear 0-3 months Gymbo clothes (he is 3 months old, over 16 lbs and 26" long), but is wearing 9-12 months Child's Place clothes. WTH?

My hubby says they have to be this way since they sell clothes for .80 cents in their clearance sections, and because they are creating constant shoppers. All of our friends/family who shop there are there each week to buy new stuff as the kids' clothes have shrunk, wrong size, outgrown, etc. They don't mind as they get their stuff on clearance (I find their regular prices are high for the quality) and so it's not a big deal. I think it's a big deal to constantly have to keep buying more clothes as I just don't have the time for that - LOL!

No disrespect meant to any of you who love this store, but I find the style, sizing, etc. of TCP is like Walmart - clothes are cheaply made, inconsistent in sizing, mostly carry fads (big bright and garish colors for girls - boys stuff isn't too bad) and expensive for the quality.

Most of my friends shop there as it's a "thrill of the hunt" sort of thing, and admit that they don't shop there for quality (although I must admit that some of their uniform stuff is on par with Gymboree).

i have found the shirts run really small , the pants this season are running small too. My dd7 just started wearing a size 7 and the skirts i bought her ,when she wore a 6 , were a 10!!!!! my dd10 wore an 8 and the skirt was a 14/16. I try to have my kids try on the clothing if they are with me.
