Are chances better at RPH for suite availability at check-in?

It looks like the RPH has 26 King Suites compared to PBH's 12. As a YouFirst Gold member, I'm really hoping to be able to upgrade. Does it make sense to book @ RPH for that reason?

I'd love to hear what other Gold member's experience has been when it comes to being able to upgrade at check-in at either RPH or PBH.

RPH, being the cheapest, often fills up the fastest. It is really a toss up as to who will have more empty suites.

Are those recent suite numbers? Some of the king suites at RPH were turned into kid suites in the past few years.

Guess I should have just called. 26 was way off.

I was just told by the front desk that there are now only 10 at RPH; PBH did say there are still 12.

yup, its a lower number of king suites at rph.

i book my king suite when i make the ressie.

depending on when you are going, it might be possible to upgrade for the $50 a night.

i would think the date would make a difference on availability at the hotels.

Are you saying that even though you are Gold, you always book/guarantee the suite and pass on the opportunity to possibly upgrade at check-in?

Mac is platinum so she gets her suite upgrade when she books a standard room.

yup, i'm platinum and upgrade to the king suite when i book.

i have to book way out as i go in a popular time period.

any guest can book the suite so when that happens, it lowers the number of suites that can be upgraded with the youfirst membership.

That's what I thought. I was hoping to get some feedback/advice from Gold members on what they tend to do and how successful they've been in being able to upgrade.

Honestly, if it were me I would be booking at Portofino. The suites are real suites and they are more plentiful than any of the other on-sites. I truly believe your chances are greater booking there. When are you going?

Not until June (7-10). I actually need to get 2 rooms and was hoping to upgrade 1 room to a suite.

I would shoot for a 2 bedroom Portofino Suite. Would one King and 1 dbl. Queen work?

Yes, there are.

I won't quote the number I found online since it seems to be incorrect. Also, the facts seem to change daily as to the number of King Suites at RPH. Today I was told there are 15.

When Royal Pacific first opened the King Suites were called Executive King Suites there were 36 of them. Now - there are 28.

Rooms 3700 and 3701 were King Suites on CL.

Funny, online it says 26, then yesterday I was told 10, today 15 and now 28.
The more the better, so I hope you're right Jessica!

I know you are looking for a suite upgrade - I still say Portofino is your best bet to GET one. There are 12 Portofino Suites but a host of others. Add to that at RPR it is much busier due to lower rates (usually). Your chances will be greater getting a suite at PBH. Your dates are questionable - not low season but not peak yet either.

Rates aren't out yet, correct? Do you have an AP? Whats the difference in price between the standard at RPR and GV at PBH for this past June?

26 and 2 on CL.

Rack rates are out. Avg rate @ RPH is $295.00, PBH is $355.00 but I know I can do better eventually. I will purchase an AP if it beats out AAA or SMSM if offered.

When you say "a host of others" are you saying PBH could possibly upgrade a Gold member to one of those if the 12 Portofino Suites were unavailable?
