Im thinking of taking my tripod for my camera to get some shots of fireworks but not sure if parks will allow them in.

I've read lots of reports of people on the photography board taking their tripod in with them, no problem, so I can't see why not :thumbsup2

One suggestion I would offer is to take a tripod with you that is called the GorillaPod

These are great for the when you find yourself in a situation where there is no room around you to set up a tripod - something that happens regularly around the hub near to the castle. These handy little things will grip onto a nearby lampost and do the same job as a tripod. Great bit of kit I think - and well worth sticking in your theme park bag (come on - doesn't everyone have one of those :goodvibes)

Was just about to recommend these!!

Great for fireworks as you can bend them around railings etc! :)

Just remember to try and pick railings that are stable enough not to be affected by other people leaning and bouncing on them while waiting for a show.

Yes, tripods are allowed in the parks and I took my tall one, although it folds up quite compact. Failing that, the top of a clean trash can has also worked wonders for me ...... ;)

Yup, I once used my G'pod on the 'garden fence' close to Crystal Palace which was awesome and solid at the time but then pretty much as soon as the fireworks started people would start bounce against them, especially the wee kiddies who had a bit less patience after the first couple of minutes and got restless.

I've done the trash can trick too though do a dummy run test straight with your positioning for photo's. I also had one of those which I thought was a good base only to find it had an uneven corner so rocked anytime any pressure was applied but by the time I realised all the other good trash cans were gone ;)

Oh, have I missed you over the last few months!!! :lmao:

I suppose the same is true with a tripod (not a gorillapod) completely extended as there is always going to be a risk of it being kicked and bumped. It's one of the hazzards of getting good photos I guess.

Hee! Well hopefully I should have more time now that xmas is over and done with to start lurking, planning and ofc sharing all my hot, hot tips on all the wrong ways to blunder through the parks ;) Was also really busy at work getting everything done in January as was due to go on Jury Service next week - only for them to cancel it at the last minute!

OT, yeah, finding an undisturbed good spot can be really hit and miss sometimes - even the best laid plans can go awry especially when there are so many other people trying to do the same thing - usually 5 minutes beforehand when they're all trying to elbow their way :scared1:

I would love to take the tripod on holiday for those tricky firework shots. However DW always seems to have mislaid it when we are packing the cases :rolleyes1
