I thought I might have read recently (past six months maybe) that a number of WDW properties were going through room renovations over the next couple of years. I was wondering if anyone had any details on this, specifically in regards to the BCV if possible. And, other properties for that matter. Thanks

bcv Was fully refurbed fall last year. New carpets, drapes, bedding, painting etc. Unlikely you'd actually notice though!

No new tvs

The cost of DVC renovations come from the member dues reserve fund, they are not paid for by Disney. They have to stretch out the costs to withdrawl from the fund. Typically they do a few items at a time - such as replace sofas or mattresses. Some maintenance items probably come first - like roof repair before new tv's.

New beds and sleeper sofas were installed in 2007.

I personally think that a property of this status, category, price point, reputation, etc. should have flat screen TV's. That is absolutely the "norm" for all nicer, upper end hotels, condo hotels, etc. nowadays. It's not a big deal, but it's just one of those little things that bothers me. I'm sure they work out great deals with the TV manufacturers anyhow and buy them for a fraction of the cost the general public pays.

Disney has the likes of the Four Seasons, Ritz Carlton, JW Marriott, Waldorf Astoria knocking on their doorsteps. A property like the BCV should have amenities like flat screen TV's without question. Especially when they are putting their rooms through renovations.

Again, the cost would have to come from member dues. Not only the TV but the cabinet to put it in. All the furnishings in the room have a "life cycle" to be replaced, along with maintenance items.

Agree it would be nice, but personally I'd rather have lower dues than flat screen TVs. My only complaint about BCV was that the couches in both rooms we had were stained - and they're not that old!

And we have to remember who stained them. Members, guests of members and other guests. So it's up to us and our guests to make sure we keep the villas clean and maintained. I wish DVC would change people for making messes and damaging furniture.
