Are BCV and BWV close, geographically?

After reading so many raves from many of you about BCV and BWV, I went ahead and posted looking for points to have rooms there for family, hubby and me for our vow renewal in December. As it's more than 7 months out, I've been bound by the home resort of those who replied. We've found one person with enough points to book a studio at BCV for my parents for Dec17-23, and we've found one person who has enough to book Dec17-18 at BWV for DH and me. This is great as DH and I wanted to be somewhat separated from the horde for the actual anniversary and renewal day (so it felt more like a 2nd honeymoon!). We've found a third person who has points at both resorts that could be booked now, and here's where I need help... we haven't been to either resort, so I have no idea which we will like better. My parents don't want to feel isolated, so we need to be close by after those first two nights. Our son will be staying with my parents the first two nights, but after that he will move to our unit. Should we continue the nights at BWV, or should we move to BCV to be by my parents? Are the two resorts close enough together to functionally feel like one very large resort... or what's the travel time between the two? Is one much better than the other? Opinions, please! I value your advice!!! Thanks ~Ev :)

I've only stayed at BCV but we did spend some time visiting the Boardwalk as well. Both resorts are really nice, so there is really no difference in the "quality" of the hotels. I find that the BC is a little more laid back than the BW. The two (well actually three because the Yacht Club is right next to the Beach Club), are across from each other and there is a lake between them. You can walk from one to another because there is a path that goes around the lake. I would say its about a 10 minute walk, but we never actually timed it. Also, I'm pretty sure you can take a boat from the BC/YC to the BW but I'm not positive. That is my favorite area to stay. Hope that helps.

BCV and BWV are about a 10 minute walk apart as PrincessMeganKatie said. While you can take a boat, it's actually faster to walk (but might be faster/easier for your parents to do the boat circuit depending on their mobility). The boat makes the rounds to all the resorts (Beach/Yacht Club; Swan/Dolphin and BW) and makes a circular run to MGM and Epcot's International Gateway.

BW has lots of activity at night with jugglers, entertainers, etc as well as Atlantic Dance and Jellyrolls. I would say BCV is the quieter of the two, although we always stay at BWV and have never had an issue with noise. BCV is closer to Epcot than BWV so if your parents will be venturing out on their own, this may be a factor. I don't think anyone would feel isolated staying there at all.

We've never stayed at BCV, but as a DVC member I can say that all of the DVC resorts are wonderful -- they are different, but all are top quality resorts. Good Luck and best wishes for your vow renewal.

Thanks for the responses! I was able to find DVC renters for points at each location, with enough points to fill 1 villa each for our stay. Soooo, we'll be in two resorts, but I think a 10 minute walk is a small price to pay to be in a great location for a great rate at Christmas time. Plus, this way, we get to experience both resorts! Win/win! ~Ev :sunny:

Yay Ev

A win/win indeed :woohoo:

The resorts are close to each other and yeah we walk it all the time and deffo on the 10 mins.

Those that stay in BCV get to do Stormalong Bay and can pool hop to your pool - and that's official for DVCers before anyone jumps on me about that - DVC members or those staying on points in a DVC resort will have DVC member written on their room key card and pool hopping is one of the perks! However DVC members cannot hop to Animal Kingdom Lodge's pool or Stormalong Bay unless they are staying at either resort. There may also be restrictions in place depending on the time of year you are staying there - I know there are restrictions at Xmas time.

Your son may enjoy Stormalong Bay so you may want to move over there, but the helter skelter of the Luna Pool at BW is also fun.

The rooms are a little bigger in sq. ft at Boardwalk. It's a hard one I love both these resorts - I would say that it's quicker getting coffees and pastries at the Beach Club in the morning than queing at the bakery at Boardwalk and it's less of a walk to do that at BCV than at BWV. But of course you have facilities in your room to do this if you want - I'm just lazy ;)

It's horses for courses - but I would happy in either - can you tell I'm finding it hard to make a decision on both of these resorts LOL but you want help soooo here's what I say : so that you have Stormalong Bay for your son and be near the parents I would suggest moving to BCV after your BW stay because then you've had your own little time at BW and then you get to taste BCV too - it's the best of both worlds :) But I won't be offended if you decide to stay at BW ;)

Sam, that's exactly how we worked it! Tom and I will spend part of our stay in each resort. We will be at BWV in a studio the first four nights, while my parents and Brad (our son) are at BCV. Then Tom and I will move over to BCV for the last two nights and Brad will move to our room. We've got the reservations squared away, and this way each couple gets some private nights. My family also gets to experience both resorts fully. Our daughter and her husband decided to stay at Caribbean Beach Resort, because Kate's got the absolute fondest memories from there and she wants to share that resort with her new husband. As for the pool situation, our beginning dates are actually classified "pre-holiday"... the holiday restrictions go into effect on Dec 20 this year. However, I doubt Brad will want to do much swimming in December! Regardless, everything's working out perfect! ~Ev :)

Great job Ev - so glad this all worked out for you :thumbsup2

I love CBR too, I've stayed there 3 times in the last 3 years, it's very pretty. Awww heck what am I saying I prolly LOVE all the WDW resorts, I haven't actually stayed at all of them but I sure have had a "nose" around all of them :teeth:

Glad to hear you found your points! That was sooooooo fast, most of the time it takes people a couple of weeks to find that many.

Yes, I was VERY lucky. There were quite a few people requesting around our travel dates, and most of the points I saw offered had an expiration date before Dec 2006. We received notes from several people offering us points at different resorts, but we really needed the close proximity to Epcot for my parents to fully enjoy the stay. They're so excited about our plans; it's fun when we can do something to make them happy. =)

All the people we are renting from seem like wonderful people too! This has been such a positive experience for us all the way around. :thumbsup2 I'm so glad somebody over at theknot.com mentioned this forum to me, because the info and advice I've received here certainly have changed the gameplan for our renewal week for the better! (I can't remember if it was twojo21 or WDWBride2007 who told me about the DIS, but thank you!) ~Ev :)
