Are AP Pins and lanyards available at AK?

They are available inside the Island Merc. store..you have to ask for them.. and as I found out
yesterday, they have the green one w/ pin, and also the 100 yrs of magic lanyard w/o pin
You should have your choice...We had someone who went yesterday for their 100 yrs of magic one, and they
gave them the green ones, and stamped their passes..then later in the park they saw people w/ the
100 yrs lanyard, and asked where they got it, and they said the Is. Mer....they went back and asked
why they didn't get that one, and were told that they didn't ask...

Soooo they asked for the new ones, and were told that they were already stamped, and couldn't
get them....and that had been a 3 day special only..

They are new passholders, and are really bummed, soooo I told them to go to Guest
Relations at MK, and see if they would help...get them their lanyards...

So be specific, or be prepared to fight for both of them..

Lots of luck..

Thanks Donna. We were there over Christmas week and they ran out. We are going back first week of April. I will make Is. Mer. my first stop of the trip. This is our first year as AP holders so I would like to get them as a milestone souvenier.

If we can be of any help, let me know...don't forget to stop at our pin meets at the Cont.
of Fri 7-?? or the Poly same times...(shameful plug))

Hope to see you guys then

We're activating our APs in a couple weeks (first time with APs). Do you automatically get a lanyard and pin when you activate an AP or do you have to ask for them. Also, are they free? Do the adults and kids get them (all have APs) or just the adults. Not sure which park we'll hit first - any suggestions on which lanyard we should request at each park. Thanks so much for your help.

P.S. Any ideas on inexpensive ways to start kids on pin trading? Hate to spend tons in case they're not in to it. Does TDS have sales or are the only good deals at the outlet malls? Thanks.

When you get your AP they do not give you your lanyard there..you still have to go to the AK
for it..Same info as above..Everyone that has an AP gets a lanyard, kids and adults..

The DS does have some good prices pins, and a lot of people are using them for lanyard trading
down here, and there are a lot of people at the meets that are collecting them, the state pins
are a good item if you can get them..

If you get outlet pins, just make sure that you don't get the 2000 flex pins, people just spammed
the parks w/ them, and it was a mess.. the other ones are good, and they are less expensive for
you to purchase..
Just make sure to come and see us when you are here..we have a lot of newbies we help start on the road
also make sure that you attend Scoops pin seminar at the Expo hall at MK every day at 1:00 pm..except for
Fri & Sat It will teach you every thing you need to know about how the pins are made, and how to trade them..

He also has some cool games for the kids..they will love him..we go when ever we are in the park..

Good luck

Donna, Thanks for the info. One more question - what exactly are the 2000 flex pins? Do they say 2000 - if not how do I know what NOT to buy? Thanks!

On getting your AP lanyard/pin.
I couldn't find anyone who knew anything about it anywhere at WDW. :p
We asked everywhere and were just told to go on down to the next stop.
At two parks at the end of our scavenger hunt, we still got no help or information.
We ran into a complete dead end at AK. We asked all over and no one knew anything. We were finally pointed to the AP lounge. But that wasn't even open!
Needless to say, we never got ours. The closest I came was at the Epcot pin cart. A CM at least pulled out the AP pin we could BUY! He was the only one to do that. :p
We couldn't even get any info on our AP's! All we got was the AP and a small card sleeve to hold them in!

As far as I know the only place is there and you have to ask a CM inside for them..

When you get them, they will stamp your AP..

We literally asked at every store in AK. No one knew anything about them.
I did write a letter to Disney praising the ASMo, parks, CM's, etc.
But I also let them know of our AP (non)experiences and how poor we considered we were treated. The CM's were nice, but knew nothing. And they all admitted they didn't know, shoved us off to the next store/location, or gave misinformation.
One woman CM at MK guest services told us Disney only gave out the CM pins in October and they were long gone.
And no CM could answer if we were suppose to get them with new AP's or renewals. Not one knew. And we asked MANY.
One (INMHO jerky) CM at Guest Services in DTD even told me to contact the phone number in the AP brochure. (This was the last leg after we had been shuttled all over DTD by other CM's.)
I had just told him we rec'd no AP brochure, etc.
I asked him, You mean the phone number in the AP brochure no one at WDW can give us?
His reply, "Yes." And didn't seem to even realize (or care) what he just said.
I had to ask to him to write the phone number on a peice of paper. He acted like he begrudgingly had to do so.:p
Needless to say there was nothing impressive for us about getting AP's this trip.

Just an update on lanyards. We were there 2 weeks ago and called the Is. Merc. to ask if they had them. Spoke to Joanie (I think that's her name) and she said they had them. I asked her to hold some for us but she said no need to as they had a lot. Got there an hour later and picked up 4 lanyards and 4 Mary Poppins pins. Looked like they had boxes of them. Saw some AP holders later on the BW and they asked about the lanyards. We told them we got them that day at AK. We then bumped into the same people (go figure!) 2 days later at MGM. They said they went to AK the day after talking to us and were unable to get the lanyards. I can't believe they ran out that fast as it looked like there were lots in the box but who knows? Maybe they just spoke to a CM who didn't know where they were. Anyway, I told them to keep trying and I'd ask for a manager rather than just a kid at the counter. Good luck in the search!
