DD has very thick wavy hair. A Chi straightens her hair; the $30 version does not. Are any of the less expensive brands as good as a Chi? I don't have a good Ulta coupon and I need to buy her a new straightener. Thanks!

Not sure, I really want a Chi but I can't justify spending that much money on a straightener. I would love to hear if anybody knows. There's such a difference between when the salon uses a Chi iron on my hair then when I use my $30 iron.
Okay, now what hair product do you gals use with your flat iron? I heard it really makes a difference, so you don't fry the hair.![]()
Thanks everyone! Just ordered a Chi from drugstore.com. On sale, no tax, free shipping...$89.99. (Had to move quickly....her birthday is coming up!)

I bought my DD a Solia Tourmaline Ceramic Ion Hair Flat Iron 1-1/4". It is rated higher than the Chi according to the reviews on Solia.com

There's an ebay seller that has Buy It Now auctions on Solia hair straighteners for $66.99 The Solia has a temp. control that the $100 Chi does not have, therefore, it's less likely to fry your hair. Also, the Solia is Touraline which is also better for your hair.
It's not a $30 straightener, but the best you can buy for the quality. You get what you pay for.
