Are any less expensive hair straighteners as good as a Chi?

DD has very thick wavy hair. A Chi straightens her hair; the $30 version does not. Are any of the less expensive brands as good as a Chi? I don't have a good Ulta coupon and I need to buy her a new straightener. Thanks!

We have had good luck with Remington wet2straight. It doesn't work that great wet, but works fine on dry. My dds like it better than the expensive ones I've bought.

Not sure, I really want a Chi but I can't justify spending that much money on a straightener. I would love to hear if anybody knows. There's such a difference between when the salon uses a Chi iron on my hair then when I use my $30 iron.

My daughter has very think, wavy hair. The $30 wet/straight iron we bought at Ulta did nothing for her. We bought a chi last year for about $100. It is very good. She can straighten her hair fairly quickly and it holds!!

I don't think any of the "good" straighteners will be any cheaper than a chi. We bought ours on drugstore.com for under 100 with free shipping. Not sure what deals they have now.

Ulta's prices for a CHI are really high. I got mine off Ebay. Far cheaper.

I have a Helen of Troy and I honestly like it better than my Chi. I have relly thick hair too and it has a thicker plate so it works faster. It also has a dial from 1-10 so you can control the heat. I got it at a local beauty supply store.

There's an ebay seller that has Buy It Now auctions on Solia hair straighteners for $66.99 The Solia has a temp. control that the $100 Chi does not have, therefore, it's less likely to fry your hair. Also, the Solia is Touraline which is also better for your hair.

It's not a $30 straightener, but the best you can buy for the quality. You get what you pay for.

You can find a regular 1 inch CHi for as low as $80. If you order it online it will not be under warranty if that is a concern.
Target carries the CHI for $130 but it does go on sale. I got mine there last year for $79. It was around this time of year because it was an early Christmas present to myself.

I have one as well so I can't exactly answer your question. I've used cheaper irons and they straightened it somewhat, but not like this. I think it's totally worth the price. I have really unruly hair. It was fine in the 80s because my hair would go gigantic without even trying, but obviously, I'm not going to wear my hair that way now. I love my flat iron. It's totally changed how my hair looks. I just feel more "put together."

I have natural curly long hair and use the Remington Wet2Dry. Works great. Always use it on my wet hair leaves it silky smooth.

I use the CHI Silk Infusion. It is kind of expensive but you only need a little bit. I can tell a big difference when I straighten without use the SI.

Good choice - honestly. They (and other salon brands) are truly worth the money. They heat evenly and at a high temp. So less swipes of the flat iron are needed to get your hair straight. They last a long time, and IMO are worth every dime.

I use a J Beverly Hills one - similar to CHI. Cost me $160 buckaroo's! Worth it though... truly.

You need to have something in it before you iron - to avoid frying it. I like a LOT of different products, and what that they call contain is silicone. Biosilk is great - SunGlitz is great - Chi makes a line too that is fantastic!

My friend and I also bought Solia's because they were rated better than Chi's. We both love ours! I have used mine for almost 2 years now.
