My FIL sends these to my kids all the time. So far, I haven't spent any of them, but are they really that rare? Are they going to be worth something other than $2 anytime soon?

I have heard that there are a lot of people who get these from their local banks and use them for tips on cruises and other vacations, so perhaps they are more common and we just don't see them very much.

i don't know about that...

but i have a $2 bill that i keep behind my driver's license. actually, i have one, my DH has one, my brother has one, and my sister has one! they were in our stockings a few years ago for christmas. i don't even think of it as spending money...it's more of a good luck charm. i've had one behind my driver's license since i was 16...

No, they are not worth hanging on to. Just stuff them in an envelope and send them to me. I will take good care of them! ;)

dh and i both have one. :)

about a year ago, i got one as change from a vendor. :)

I get them all the time. I stockpile them up and use them as tips when I go on vacation. In Mexico, they are considered lucky. The one thing that happens is the receiving person will always remember you.

Use them!!! They are worth exactly $2 and will be as long as they are in circulation! I like them since a dollar doesn't go far these days. THe only problem is that store keepers aren't always used to seeing them and don't use them for proper change sometimes.

You can get them at most any bank. My MIL and SIL both work for a credit union and you can get them there. As for luck, it's funny you all should mention that. I worked with an elderly lady that ran the register at a small deli. Occasionally she would recieve a $2 bill from someone and she refused to keep it in her drawer. She always made the owner switch it out for her. She claimed that they are back luck. I had never heard this before. <shrugs>

Any one know if Silver certificates have any value?

I have two blue $1 bills, and a red $5 bill.
