Believe it or not I have never been in one. We have one about 45 minutes away but everytime I am over there we seem to spend alot of time in Barnes and Noble instead. Is it worth a drive just for this?

If you are going to B&N, then I'd definately stop in. It's not a place loaded with bargain deals, but is full of ideas. Although, they do have a section of $1.99 stuff that's fun to look through. They call it the Hot Spot. And they do mark stuff down, too.

If you go, be sure and get on the mailing list. Every quarter (plus a couple of extra times) they send out advertisement fliers with coupons. It usually has one coupon for each of the 3 months, plus another. There's almost always one for free cardstock (5 8 1/2x11 or 3 12x12), a buy any item and get a hot spot item free (I buy a $1.99 hot spot item and get one free), a percent off an item coupon, and one other coupon.

Ours are about a 1/2 hour away, so I don't go unless I have something else to do there. (The gas doesn't justify free cardstock.)

The hot spot has clear stamps and blocks for $1.99. Not too bad. (Our Mike's doesn't have clear stamps in the dollar bins like others have mentioned.)

They do have Make and Takes. Usually there is a free one and others that cost something. I believe this weekend has one. I think the free one is a tag. Check their website archiversonline.com.

They also have free classes. You can check the schedule at the website. Some classes are free, and others do have a charge. I've only done the free ones. I've made cards, tags, a Heidi Swapp acrylic tag, and even a 12x12 scrapbook page.

I'd say check it out next time you are at that B&N. It's worth a look.

Check it out for all the reasons previously stated..
Also, ours is very well organized... (I also have to drive an hour to get to our Archiver's)... and the paper is very well labelled!!!! Love that!!!
The hot spot items are good..but ours you have to really look through...but that's all the fun... you look for one item and find 5 more great ones!!! ;)

Oh, I almost forgot the crop room. Free use of the room with Ellison die press, paper cutters, punches, and shape scissors. I just went this weekend and used the press to cut tags for autograph books so that I didn't wear out my Cricut. The room is usually available unless there is a crop night or other special event. There was a special crop when I was there, but they had a press outside the room for use.

I would definitely recommend making the drive - Archiver's is like a candy store for scrapbookers. Although they do charge MSRP (opposed to the "discounted" prices that on-line vendors offer), they DO carry all the "big name" supplies all in one place. I typically don't get out of A's without dropping at least $50, and most times it's closer to $100. Also, there are a lot of altering projects throughout the store that offer some great ideas. I will say, however, that if you aren't into the "big names" you probably won't be as impressed; unfortunately, for me, my supplies always look cuter if I know what "brand" they are. Isn't that silly?!? :dance3:

I am pretty excited- we have an Archiver's opening in Austin on Friday! :thumbsup2 We have HL, Mike's and Jo's and a few LS's but, it is always nice to have one more outlet!

Looks like I'll have to make a trip over then, without the kiddos so I can really shop. I didn't realize they had a tool center so I will need some time to use it.

I love Archiver's not on because it's the only scrapbook store in my area,it's 45 minutes away from me or becuase we're getting a 2nd one that will be .6 miles closer to me then the one that's already here, but they carry great stuff. If you can go May 4-6 they run a sale for National Scrapbook Day.
their downside. pattern paper is priced on a scale. double sided cardstock weight paper is .99 no matter what company. I can order a lot of the same papers online for cheaper. I love going to their crops. I get lots done.

Ok so I went to Archivers today and spent my birthday money! I did the free make'n take and it was so cute I have to design a page around it! I wasn't too impressed with their paper selection, most of it I can get at my LSS, but I did find enough other items to spend my money on. They carry Bazzil so I picked up some sheets for the Disney ABC swap. Not sure I will make a special trip over there but will stop when I am in the area.

Glad you had a productive trip. Hopefully, I will get the chance to go this weekend to do that make and take.

I personally think our store sucks. I've done better at walmart or Cord Camera. I assume you went to same on I go to? If you need something and don't want to drive up let me know as I'm down at Easton a lot.

Hello! I didn't know you were a scrapper. It was the one in Easton. I did find some items that I haven't seen locally, but it made me appreciate my LSS. They have only been open about 6 months but have a great selection, and a great work room/class area. I didn't buy anything at Archivers that I could get at my LSS as I would rather give my money to her and keep her around.

Which Cord do you go to? Our local Cord doesn't have the scrapbook center and I have never been to one.

We'll have to compare notes memorial day at Towncriers.

I went to our new Archiver's yesterday and I was impressed. Yes, the paper was more expensive than other places. But some of the paper I have never seen before! They had some great products and they layout of the store was highly organized and clean. And, I loved the $1.99 wall- I fully expected that wall to be disorganized, but it was very well kept for late afternoon.

I usually go to one in Delaware as it's closest to me but the one in Hillard is nice. Those are only 2 I've been in. I also liked store in Westerville but I'm not sure it's there anymore. Yes we'll have to compare notes at TC's.

I have one about 10 mins away. I LOVE this store!! I can get in a lot of trouble in there!
