Was pulled into a "mother-daughter" Arbonne party last night by the mother of one of my DDs friends. Had never heard of this line before. It seems to be high quality, but the prices - particularly for the skin care lines - are right up there with Chanel. I am now feeling less guilty about my $ spending on Philosophy. Of course my DD wants to buy all of it, although she's not even allowed (by me) to wear eyeliner yet.

Is this line that good?? Better than the quality department store brands? I admit to being someone put off hearing the reps talk about a Mercedes one of them earned from the company for a high volume of sales.

It's funny because my friend is having a meeting tonight at her house about this and invited me and my husband. She said it's an easy way to make some extra money. I told her I would pass. I never heard of them. I guess I can always look into it more and can always sign up with her later on. :confused3

My DSIL started selling these recently (she was with pampered chef for years). - She lives in another state so I really haven't had much interaction with her line but she did give my DH they SKY aftershave balm which he likes and I have to say smells absolutely great on him  I know she did a lot of research before going with them and swears by the line

DH and I were invited to a meeting by some friends who are in Arbonne. We were each given a sample bag with the skin care line and one week to try them out.

The skin care line is great but to expensive.

It maybe a great way for some people to make a little extra money but when we looked into Arbonne the cost was about $2000. Now the $2000 got you 8 bags with the sample skin care line (4 womens, 4 mens). There were other levels you could sign up for but we were told the $2000 level was the best one. Not to expensive but plenty of sample bags to give friends to try.

We opted not to do Arbonne because it's to expensive and it sounds a little like Amway. Basically you don't make alot of money until you are able to sign up other people.

No offense to any Arbonne reps or customers, but i am a licensed Esthetician, and i also make my own bath and body products, which i am sure rival the quality of the above.. With all natural ingredients...
IMO, They are VERY overpriced, but I guess the consumers are only guilty of buying what they are "sold"... Same issues i have with B&B Works.. Just because "Shea Butter" is on the label, doens't mean that there is enough in there to DO anything.. KWIM? The consumer really needs to read, and research their products better..
Again,just my humble opinion.

I had a bad reaction to an Arbonne sample a friend gave me to try. I'll stick with my Clinique.

Arbonne is VERY much like Amway - they claim to be direct selling but are set up very much like a pyramid scheme. Their focus (in this area anyway) is to recruit recruit recruit instead of selling a quality product, in order to get money made for the higher ups. They do fall within the direct selling guidelines to keep it legit but let me tell you in this area Arbonne reps have been harassing everyone left & right. We have all filed complaints with the company, which in turn, does nothing. They are sucked into the "you can drive a Mercedes" when in truth the higher-up levels get a car allowance towards a Merceds - almost all direct selling companies offer a car allowance at a higher level - not just Arbonne! If one more Arbonne rep knocks on my door or calls me on the phone I will scream! I'm also in direct sales & it is nothing like Arbonne. I love what I sell, I stand behind my reasonably-priced products, and have never been pushed to recruit or sell to make money for the higher ups. I have had at least 25 different Arbonne reps try to pull me out of what I do to sell under them with the promise of a Mercedes. If you read the guidelines it is NOT easy to get to the level of the car allowance, and you have to put out thousands to join, which to me is a scam in itself. I'm sorry if I've offended anyone here who sells Arbonne & truly loves what they do - that's what it should be about - but in this area the reps have gone way overboard - it's almost cult-like! In my opinion too, the products are way overpriced - Avon, Mary Kay and drug store brands work as well or better!

Yes this is sort of the impression I got. My DD wants us to pay $ to be wholesalers so that she can buy products at 30% discount. As I explained to her, the 30% discount merely pulls the prices down to what you would pay at the Lancome or Clinique counter at Macy's. My brother and SIL rep NuSkin and it's also a pyramid scheme.

Snowbunny,

I did NuSkin for about 2 years, all I could afford before I was going broke, that truly is a pyramid scheme.

I'm in a direct sales company also that happens to sell Bath and Body products. I have to admit I've never tried Arbonne, but I know they are very expensive compared to my products. I feel my products are just as good (natural ingredients, no mineral oil, etc.) as Arbonne and are much less expensive. Arbonne just opened a large shipping/recieving warehouse here in my city. I guess they've got enough sales to need a second distribution center.

You get it exactly - PAY for the opportunity to buy at a discount - that money you PAY goes right into the pockets of those at the top! Then because you felt like you paid for something that you have to use, you buy more, where once again the profits from those sales goes in THEIR pockets. If you research Arbonne at all it's amazing to see that all the top people are ex-Amway executives.....makes you wonder....

I just became an arbonne rep the 1st of this month. My friend has done it for 4 months (and is doing VERY well for herself, she was a nurse and just recently quit to do this full time), but i haven't had much luck with it. My friend let me use all her products and I have to say my favorite was the sea salt scrub..AMAZING!!! Anyways, I paid the $30.00 to get into it but the way its looking, it's not going to be the business for me. I noticed some people were saying something about the 30% discount. If you purchase a lot from them, then you can take advantage of the $700.00 in products for only $350.00. You get that the first month you sign up, then again after you hit, i think it's $1000.00 in sales.
Just thought I'd share that!

Ok, would you mind listing the ingredients for the salt scrub? (Lil' OT i know) but i am curious.

Also, I agree with others, it is simply a pyrimid scheme co. .. you are simply signing on to make the "top brass" more money.. I just don't get it.

OT--But I'm glad you posted. You mentioned the B&BW products with Shea Butter--I agree with you that I'm not overly impressed with anything by B&BW--it seems that most is the same as the Suave stuff you can buy for a couple dollars at the grocery store.

But I'd like to hear your impressions on the L'Occitane Shea Butter hand cream. I have used that and have found it to be wonderful.

Like you, I have a friend who makes all of her own skin care out of natural ingredients. I don't have the time or inclination, I use the Jurlique skin care line which is also natural ingredient based, and while it's more expensive it's also more concentrated and I use half of what I would of other products. Do you have any experience with that line and what are your thoughts?

PM me if you'd like.

Thanks!

Anne

A friend of mine sells it and I am not sure if she is actually making money at it or not. I know her GOAL is to get the Mercedes, but they don't actually give you a Mercedes they give you a monthly allowance of like 700 bucks and you can use that to pay your car payment. SO if you decide to quit Arbonne then you lose your 700 per month and if you cannot afford your car payment after that then you lose your Mercedes. :guilty:

I have tried the stuff and I didn't think it was anything better than what I could buy at Wal-Mart to be honest with you.

I have always been leary of those types of businesses anyway.

I'm an Arbonne consultant and I just wanted to correct some things that I've read. If you go on their website, they list all the ingredients and their quarterly reports with average commisions. What other company does that? It's not a pyramid scam because in this company, everyone as the potential to make it to the top. You can pass up anyone at any given time. In a pyramid, the person at the top, stays at the top and those under them remain there. The products are formulated in Switzerland so are very high quality. They don't use animal by products which most high end department store brands do.....if you don't know what your putting on your face, look up the ingredents on the internet and see for yourself. If you already threw away the box with the ingredents on them....look on their website....if they are not listed....the company is hiding something. Arbonne list all their ingredents on their website.
The Mercedes is for those who reach a certain rank in the company. I've met someone who got her's in 8 months of being in the business and the company is giving her $800 a month to pay the note. If the note is cheaper, she can pocket the rest. Her last monthy check was $4,000. I've seen the car and I've seen her check. The company is for real and the products give results with no purfumes are harsh chemicals. You get what you pay for and that's all we want anyway.
Next time, do some research before posting what you assume something is.

I find that MLM (multi level marketing) companies can be an easy way to strain friendships -- uncomfortable product parties, and 'casual' sales pitches. People get extremely involved into it because they have so much vested, both time and money wise, that they become personally insulted once someone bashes the company they sell for or does not want to buy their product. I have heard this line one too many times: "but why make the large corporations rich when you can buy from me?"

Quixtar is the same way.

I did Arbonne for a year. The products are great - in some cases life-altering for people with severe eczema or hormone issues with the Prolief natural progesterone hormone balancing cream. But it's tough to make money with it. The products are too expensive to sell retail, and with the wholesale accounts, while great for the buyer, stinks for the consultant. If you order $100 retail when you open your $29 wholesale account you get to choose a free product, even the $72 night creme. Then you get a 35% discount for a year. So it's great for the buyer, really, but it just makes the people at the top rich. When your upline makes much more on a sale then you do, there is something wrong with the compensation plan.

I'm an Arbonne "wholesaler" - I paid the $30 last year to be able to buy the products at the discount.

I'm not going to bother to re-sign for the wholesaler discount. By the time you add the shipping and handling to your orders, it's not much of a discount anymore (unless you order tons at a time, which I don't). Good products though.
