My DD is crazy for horses so I was thinking of booking VIP tickets for the Arabian Nights Show. Any feedbcak re show or food would be appreciated. Has anyone purchased the VIP tickets? you get a back stage tour before the show and DD would be in heaven! How far from POFQ is the show? not getting a car this time should we take a cab or town car?

Cheers

My family went to the Arabian Nights show in 2003. I had prepurchased my 'regular' tickets beforehand but got caught up in the excitement at the gate and paid the extra for a VIP upgrade. After the show I was kicking myself like crazy!

I had paid the extra because I thought I'd get to sit someplace 'special', but the family right next to me didn't pay the extra. They give the VIP's assigned seats and then let all the 'regular' ticket holders fill in the empty spots. I feel I could have seen just as well from any spot in the arena.

The backstage 'tour' consisted of seeing four of the horses in the arena before the show and a walk down one of the rows of stalls. It looked pretty much like any other barn. For some reason I expected it to be all sparkling or something, and it wasn't. I did get to pet a nice barn cat during that tour.

The poster was nice, and is on my DD6's wall right now. I didn't know I was suppose to get their autographs BEFORE the show so, I didn't.

The sticker is a piece of junk. Something someone made at home.

The 'free' pop required a 'tip'.

Really LOOK at the family photo the try to sell you. They bring them out during the show when it's dark and they give you a little flashlight to look at them with. I got excited and bought mine but was disappointed with them when I got out in the light (more wasted money, I could have kicked myself again).

Don't let this negative stuff get you down. We really enjoyed the show and would do it again. The food was good (I'm not real picky) and the drinks were never ending. It really helps if you 'get into' the interactive parts, like cheering for your chariot.

I suggest you go, especially if your DD is 'horse crazy' like most young girls...but save your VIP $$ for some extra Disney souvies.

We went to both Arabian Nights and Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede. I would go to the Dixie Stampede. Go really early to get a seat in the "bar" area where the horse and rider come out and are among the guests. The lights stay on through the performance, the meal is much better and when it is all over, all the riders/horses are along the rail and you can stop and talk with them and pat the horses. When you first arrive you can also walk along the stall area and see the horses. For a horse crazy girl (like me!) it was MUCH better than Arabian Nights. I intend to go again this fall!

Kevenswife2 - don't feel bad-I bought the darn picture, too! It is really hard to see there, and they do a good sell job. Live and learn!

Hello there fellow central Mainer!! Wonderful weather we're having, huh?!! :cold: I was glad to read your review about Dixie Stampede - my DH, DD11 and I are planning on going during our October trip and I think we'll love it. We've been to Arabian Nights a couple of times and really enjoy it but we want to try something different. We've been to one of the pirate dinner shows in Orlando and we were pretty disappointed with it so we'll stick with the horses!! I'm just wondering if it's worth it to pay the extra for the VIP tickets at Dixie Stampede (sounds like it's definitely not worth it with Arabian Nights).

Jeanne B-welcome to you, too! Fingers pruny, yet?! Regarding the Dixie Stampede, we didn't buy the VIP tickets so I can't answer you there, but we just loved the entire show. We enjoyed it more than the Arabian Nights, mostly I think 'cause we're getting old and I see ever so much better when the lights are up!

We're not pruny yet but we need to hurry up and get out of central Maine before we turn to prunes!! About 18 hours and counting!! :sunny: We'll probably skip the VIP tickets but I'm really looking forward to going to the show in October - when we drove by it last year I told my DD that we would definitely go there this year. If we had time on our mini-vacation this weekend we would go but we'll stick it out and wait until October. :flower:
