Aquaduck

Someone mentioned kids looking silly in the pictures - does this have a photo each ride, like say Splash Mtn - or are these photos you took?

The first three days of our cruise they took photos of everyone on one of the hills. Some were in our picture folder but most were in a big pile at the end of the cruise and you had to search through them for your own photo. It may have been a trial thing as it was May 2012, just 6 weeks into the Fantasy's inaugural season. But they definitely took them - we have a priceless one of my dad and my youngest son!!

There were ride photos (just like those on Splash, etc.) last May on the Fantasy, but none this year. There is a computer in the area right before you board the raft where you could scan your KTTW card (IIRC), but it was down the entire week earlier this month. Looks like they no longer do it which is sad because those were some great pics last year!

How strict are they on height? Do they have to be exactly 42 inches or if they are almost there will they let them on? I know at Disneyland my daughter was les than 1/4 in to short and they wouldnt let her on (she had to touch the mark with her head) so we bought her shoes that gave her that little extra she needed (we werent trying to get her on crazy rides).

Can you wear flip flops while you ride the aquaduck? I know Disneylands rules say that they cant ask a guest to remove there shoes, even if the know the shoes are whay is giving the child the heigh they need.

Why would you do this? The hight requirements are there for your child's safety. I know you child might be disappointed, but disappointment is a part of life. A lesson a child should learn.

Seriously?! What a debbie downer you are. That was a little harsh. We all want to protect our children but simply being a few inches shoeter doesn't mean that the child will die or be in serious danger...the hieght requirements are not perfect ways of measuring safety.

I was actually wondering the same thing. I would let my child ride it if they would let him....and I'll worry about the "lessons" he needs to learn. Not every moment in a child's life needs to be a teaching moment. Geez.

I am not a downer, I am one that follows rules and does not try to find ways around them. Now yes I do not have kids, but if I did I would raise them the same way they raised me. If you get disappointed, oh well it's part of life. You can't have everything you want. Everyday try and learn something new if you can, as you can never learn enough. I appreciate my parents for letting me live with disappointment, it made me a better person. I just don't understand why parents would try to add height to their children. It's just not safe.

I agree. Safety is the top priority, which is why there are height restrictions. No shows can be worn on the AquaDuck. Stand tall, deep breath, arms to her side. If she isn't quite tall enough, there are plenty if other things on the ship she can do and be safe doing.

I have spent many of my years as a manager in attractions at WDW. I know it's hard for some kids, mostly parents, when the kids can't ride. It is truly for their safety. If it was determined that 41 3/4" was safe, they would lower the height requirement. The AquaDuck can bounce someone around a lot. Disappointment from not riding is sure better than having to visit the health center due to an injury.

The height restriction is what it is...it's there for people's safety.

Guess Im a bad parent. And so is disney who lets kids in 2in heals on a ride that they know they are to short for. I would never put my child in jeporady. Shes tall enough to ride some rides by herself but bc she has to ride byhersel and not next to/with a parent, we wont let her ride. I was asking how strict they were since I found in my experience it really depends on who's working if they let you on.

Thanks for your comment though.

You saw a child wearing 2" heels? Or your child wore 2" heels? Either way, if the CM noticed that there's no way they would let the child onto the ride; they would be in serious trouble if that were found out.

My son was once denied Star Tours at the second measuring, because the CM was pushing down on his shoulder. The CM slipped a piece of paper between DS's head and the measuring stick, and denied him.

It was so disappointing, because he absolutely was the right height. BUT later we realized that if he can't follow our instructions to stand up straight and tall, and if he isn't old enough to speak up and ask the CM to stop pushing on his shoulder, then he's not old enough even to ride Star Tours.

Don't fudge heights. They set them, I'm quite sure, with a fudge factor already worked in. So if we mess with it more, we are making it unsafe for our kidlets.

I would think having a child injured or even killed (which whether you want to believe it or not - those restrictions are there for a reason) can happen with height rules are cheated would be much more of a downer than the disappointment of a child not being able to ride.

Its honestly not the end all be all anyway. We rode it once and its ok. I was much more entertained by the fiesta party and family karaoke. There is just sooo much going on that aqua duck is like maybe 5 or 10% tops of the whole trip...

For your family's sake I guess, here is hoping for a growth spurt.

No one is saying break all the rules and kids will be fine. No one is putting high heels on our children so they can do whatever they want. Chill out people.

But by saying that us saying the rules are there for a reason (to protect!!) makes us "Debbie Downers", you ARE saying that it's ok to break the rules and the kids will be fine.

(Not sure why you decided to quote me twice, but whatever. I stand by my statement. I've found that those who advocate breaking the rules are usually the first to scream that they should have been enforcing the rules when something goes wrong.)

And believe it or not, I am a total hover-er, breastfeeding, educated (Master's in Social Work) parent of 3...probably just like most parents on here, so don't treat other people like they are terrible parents bc they ask a ? like this.

No I'm saying chill out. It's not the end of the world. Its not your kid...its not like she is trying to put her baby down a slide that is unsafe just because it wanted to ...I'm not saying break all the rules...I'm sure you don't break the speed limit EVER either do you. Bahahaha

So by pointing out that the rules are there for a reason we're saying they're terrible parents? Um, no. We're saying "the rules are there for a reason" - to protect people from unnecessary risk.
