Aquaduck question

I've heard how slippery the deck and stairs are on the pool decks. Can I wear my water shoes on the Aquaduck? I definitely have an issue with going barefoot and usually always wear water shoes at the beach. I'm hoping I can keep my feet covered if I have water shoes as opposed to flip flops.

Hubby and kids went on it last week.

1. You must remove all shoes - you can wear water shoes up the stairs, but need to remove them once you get on the ride (you can carry them in your hands while you go down ride)

2. Deck and stairs were not too slippery at all - our little guy who just turned 5 did totally fine going up the stairs.

Is there an alternate way to get up the aquaduck or do you have to use the stairs? My wife has bad knees.

I would have liked an option but didn't see one. Disney is not always consistent. Water shoes were fine but you could not have anything in your hands. If u had flip flops you had to sit on them going down. I found the ground hot to walk on. When there was wind they only let double riders go no singles.

I had to remeove my shoes too and not even allowed to take them with me in any wya shape or form. I also was told to not have my camera.

The first day on our 8/15 dream cruise, we did not have our water shoes on and our feet got burned on the extremely HOT deck. Once our bags arrived, we wore our water shoes on the ride and no one said anything. I saw that people had to sit on their flipflops but we kept our water shoes on. The steps were HOT too.

My 70 lb dd, who was tall enough, got STUCK in the AquaDuck. She was not heavy enough to go down on her own!! They had to shut the ride down and restart it! We rode together instead later.

My DD and I rode with our watershoes on and were not asked to remove them. I did see people with flip flops be asked to take them off.

Once again, such discrepancies from Disney...

We just got off the Fantasy last weekend, and rode the Aquaduck multiple times on different days and at different times when different CMs were working, and the rules were consistently the same all week.

Could it depend on the type of water shoes? It is understandable that they don't want you wearing flip-flops, because they could come off on the ride. I imagine they don't want any shoes that could slip off during the ride, and no shoes with hard soles. Some water shoes are soft with no hard soles or anything and fit tightly to ensure not coming off in water. Maybe like the Teva Nilch? I wouldn't think they'd have any problem with those. That type of water shoe is not too comfortable for walking around, but would serve the purpose on the hot steps and on the ride.

Hmmm. I thought if anything, the Teva Nilch would be acceptable because it's about the only one of Teva's so-called water shoes that is what I'd consider soft and secure enough. Oh, well . . .

only the stairs....there was a child in a wheel chair with a bad leg and two guys carried her up the stairs, in the wheel chair, then carried the wheel chair down once she was on the ride......

as far as water shoes- i did not find the stairs to be to slippery or a danger- only danger is if you are on line on the stairs, not paying attention and take a miss-step...while we were there you were not allowed to ride the aquaduct with anything; shoes, goggles, sunglasses, lamenents with your room card...
