Does the Aquaduck operate during the sail away party? I know it's closed for the muster drill, but I'm curious if it's running right after? If so, are the lines long?

I know we went on it while the sail-away party was still ongoing. I can't tell you exactly when it opened. I can tell you that the line was pretty long (20-30 minutes). That was longer than most of the other times we went on it during the week. But of course, it will vary cruise to cruise.

Yes, it does - this picture was taken during the sail away party on the Dream (you can see one of the rafts in the tube:

We wore our suits onto the ship, so we could ride the Aquaduck right away. I had heard this would be the best time to ride it with the lowest lines. We waited for 25-30 minutes on the scorching hot floors! It was miserable. Later in the cruise we rode it after the first seating for dinner and skipped the show. There was no line. We rode it 15 times in a row. That is what we plan to do again on this cruise. We watched it every evening, and there were never any lines. I would have enjoyed a drink while relaxing in a chair to see the show rather than ride the slide. But that was just our experience and opinion. Maybe others have found it to be better right away.

I know it is open when you board and after the drill. I assume it's open during the show. I will say if you are looking for short lines, I waited no more than 5 minutes after spending a half day on Castaway Cay. I rode it about 6 times in a row. I did this on my last cruise, and will probably do it again whenever I go back to Castaway Cay. That also depends how I'm feeling. I'm not totally a beach person, so a half day is normally enough for me.

That's what we do every cruise. My kids and I ride several times after dinner, then I watch movies on funnel vision while they continue to ride time and time again. Then of course we have to have more food while watching the movies!!! I love my oatmeal cookies with coffee on deck while watching a movie under the stars.

In all our cruises, I always pack a swimbag but we never use it. :) We typically have an early boarding group number so we get onboard by 11:30 or so. First things we do is grab some lunch, start a Detective agency case, sign up for beverage tastings, have a couple of ice cream cones, check out the Spa (if I am going to buy a Rainforest pass, I do it then) and then head to the cabin as it is typically 1:30 by then. We take our time and I will snap a few pictures along the way.

We will do the Aquaduck and get some swim time in while folks are getting ready for dinner or the shows. Pool and Aquaduck are a bit more quiet then. And the decks are not so hot either. :)
Our dinner is at 8:15 so this gives everyone a chance to get some water time in before getting ready for dinner.
We also do Aquaduck ALOT on CC days. Sometimes we stay on the whole day and sometimes we leave the ship for a few hours and then come on back to enjoy the quiet decks and pools.

I highly recommend swim shoes that can be worn on the hot decks, though, as you are waiting to ride Aquaduck or even dashing from one pool to the other. Ouch!

Do you just wear your swim shoes on the Aquaduck or is there a place to leave them (with your towel?) beforehand? Also, are crocs okay or is something more secure advisable?

There are cubbies at the entrance of the Aquaduck, but I would do the water shoes if possible. They will be a bit more secure on the feet on the rafts.

Thanks everyone! I thought maybe while everyone's at the sail away party, the Aquaduck wouldn't be too bad. Glad I asked! We have late dinner, so it looks like our best option might be to ride during the first dinner seating. We LOVE CC, so I don't want to cut that too short.

The Aqua Duck has been running during most of the sail away parties I have seen and/or been a part of.

Does anyone know what time it closes in the evening? Does one ride it at night?

I seem to remember it closes at 10:00 PM, most nights, wind permitting. We saw it running after that, but I think what was happening is that they close the LINE at 10:00PM, and then let everyone already in line ride it once.
