AP's to get 20 FP+ per quarter

My smartphone would be dead by noon...but my ipad battery life is wonderful. Now I am picturing my park trip with my ipad, in my sling sak, in a zip lock bag (to the tune of Clementine).

Any guesses (yes, I know, this is all only guesses) on whether an AP holder staying on property might get more FP+? That is to say corresponding to the stay (like any resort guest) but added to the 20 per quarter idea?

As I ask that I am becoming quickly aware that as my personal concerns are met, my dislike of the system will fade.

I would guess that an AP Holder staying onsite would get additional fastpasses. The whole idea is to encourage people to stay onsite. What I want to know is will MYW get any if not staying onsite?

Still, I'm thinking of those who go without sufficient tech (some seniors, for instance) to make FP+ viable.

That 'senior' typically understands that there are benefits of technology. It wasn't long ago that you were probably helping a senior use an ATM, access their e-mail, then use Facebook, then use a smartphone, the send their first Tweet....and I bet you've even had to discuss that we no longer pay for long-distance phone calls.....most people of all ages adapt to obvious change.

Technology of FP+ gives that senior a chance to ride Toy Story when they want, not after waiting in line for an hour or having to get a FP at rope drop.

If you're worried about the senior, you should want FP+.

I'm specifically talking about people (seniors is only one potential group I thought of--don't mean to imply any less tech-savviness on their part) who don't "do" tech for whatever reason. In that context, your last comment makes no sense.

Seniors also tend to get up early, so I think the current way of "first-come first-serve" would appeal to them. ;)

1. If this happens, then FP becomes on-par with Universal?? No??

2. Isn't the Universal FP an option only to on-site guests?

3. Can you buy it??

4. Is their a Universal AP and does it offer FP?

I can't keep up with you.

1. Maybe, but I don't think that's necessarily a good thing.

2. No. Unlimited Express to onsite guests only, single-use per attraction for the purchased version.

3. Yes, see 2.

4. Yes and not sure. Supposedly AP holders can do any attraction once after 4:00p, but either that wasn't the case when I held them or I didn't know about it at the time.

One of the best parts of goign to WDW is leaving the phone back in the room and disconnecting from "the real world". Looks like this may nolonger be an option. :(

Thank you for helping to illustrate my point. :thumbsup2

1. You might, I don't. Scheduling a meal six months from now is not planning, that's super planning. ;)

2. But ride slots are removed from somewhere to make room for FP+, as max ride capacity is a constant. If one doesn't participate in it, I do not see how FP+ can do anything but increase wait times for them.

FP+ only further complicates it.

Good discussion! :goodvibes

1. Super planning is what is done by people who live in a land far, far away from Disney. A land surrounded by mountains and snow, or fields of green, and with little access to the many colorful people who inhabit the DisBoards.

1a. My family maximizes limited vacation time by doing as much planning as possible before getting to Disney. We have a short 'must-do' list. FP+ gives me more options and, therefore, a better chance to complete my must-do list and spend money.

2. FP & FP+ will both remove ride slots, agreed. We're just debating distribution.

Assuming that removing ride slots by FP or FP+ are the same thing, FP+ keeps me away from the Park and/or attraction when I don't want to be there. Ya'see, FP is getting me to the Park when I really want to be someplace else. FP+ can give my wife more time at an on-site spa, or go to Downtown Disney, or simply stroll the other gift ideas and spend money.

See 1A.

All change appears complicated at first glance.

Maybe I shouldn't admit it, but I don't get this joke.

Theres a difference between writing a book about Disney and visiting the parks to write articles about it as well as engaging fans on message boards which Mousermerf does, and those who give paid tours within the parks, conduct "podcasts" from the park, interview guests and cast on stage, and film live "shows" from the park.

One imo is acceptable, the other is competing directly with Disney

I can't keep up with you.

Sorry, I'm avoiding the stock market, etc. I sold a bunch of things yesterday and might actually be net-short by now. I'm trying not to be too giddy over my momentarily good fortunes.:thumbsup2

Back to FP & FP+.

I understand folks who do not want just a FP+ system. It seemingly will be available to only on-site guests (like Universal) or to AP for a limited number of times. And you will likely need to be technologically proficient to maximize it's benefit.

I also understand folks who do not want to eliminate current FP system. It eliminates participation from people who do not stay on-site.

Have we been given enough information from Disney to believe that both will not coexist?

We have not. The OP claims it will be so, though. At the end of the day, all we have as yet are the terms and conditions on the new website. Other than that, this thread and its titular subject are still nothing but rumor.

I was excited about FP plus, but from what I've seen so far, I'm not impressed with what I have seen so far. I am an AP holder who goes to WDW about 20 days a year. I think as long as I have a choice, I will stick with regular FP for now.

It will be interesting to see if a family books their FP+ for a certain high profile ride (TSMM), for later in the evening and when they get to the ride/attraction they find out its closed and will be for the day.
I'm sure that family won't be too pleased.
Or using FP+ for MSEP (if that's an option, can't remember) or 3pm parade and t is cancelled due to weather. That wouldn't be Disneys fault, but try telling that to the families who used one of their top tier choices for that.

I skeptical of losing current FP for a simple reason....why install new FP distribution machines in Fantasy Land? Just roll out new FP+ when ready.

And why build a distribution 'tent' in new Fantasy Land if you're just going to use if for a few months?

When I had my AP I certainly went more than 13 times a year but I'm one of those people who never use FP...I've seen/done everything I wanted so there's no need for me to waste a FP. Plus I won't wait in a line for more than 20 minutes so there's no need for one. Now if I did use FP a lot then I would be a little concerned about this supposed change so I can see why people are worried.

Universal's Premier AP has the Express access after 4pm but that's the only one of the three available that offers it.

I believe that off site guests can purchase the unlimited pass. It is called the VIP pass and is quite expensive ($150 ish per day)
