Sorry if this question has been asked a hundred times already but, can you really purchase your AP at the resort now? TIA :thumbsup2

In may we were at okw and they said we could purchase them there but not if we were activating from where we purchased on line

This is really strange because I asked a CM about this just the other day and they told me that I cannot buy APs at the resort. Ugh!

Per Allears:

UPDATE: As of the last resort computer software update, Lobby Concierge at the Disney Resorts can now sell Annual Passes. They can ONLY sell new passes. They cannot do renewals. One thing to note is that Lobby Concierge can only put the AP on a plastic Key to the World card, not on a paper ticket. While this may sound like a good thing, Guest Relations reports many problems with the magnetic strip on the plastic cards becoming unreadable or demagnetized far more often than the paper tickets.

We bought ours at BWV in April, used them again the end of June and have not had any problems using them. Just make sure you don't carry them and your room card next to your cell phone. Your cell phone can demagnetize your room key card and your AP.

what if you lost your AP and need to get a new one issued, can you do that at concierge or do you have to go to guest services. I lost 2 of our 4 passes! UGH!

Good info to know. We have a renewal that is alreayd paid for (before increase) so we'll be going to guest relations to process it.

You can buy new APs. You can't do renewals or have lost ones replaced. You need a Guest Services for that.

Per Allears:

I'm a little confused. What's a Key to the World card? Isn't that the same thing as your room key? If so, how can you use the AP on your next trip? I've always gotten a separate paper AP ticket.

If you are doing a discounted ticket upgrade to AP, it was strongly recommended to me by a CM at GS to do the upgrade ONLY at a park and not the resort. HTH

The AP's you purchase at guest services at your resort are printed a plastic card similar to a key card. It's not your current KTTW card, but a similar plastic card. So it has the magnetic strip on the back. My DSIL likes the idea of a plastic card because she has the tendency to send their APs through the wash. :rotfl: You still will have to deal with two cards, your KTTW card and your AP card.

The new paper AP cards which are sold at the Parks or Downtown Disney guest relations have the magnetic strip plus a square code box that the CMs can scan if the magnetic strip doesn't work.

So on the off chance the AP that I buy at my resort becomes demagnitized can they fix it at the resort or do I have to go to guest services?

Your room key and your AP will be identical. And no, the room key will NOT work in the turnstiles. :rolleyes1 I got mine mixed up more than once.

I don't know. I haven't heard any reports one way or the other and Allears didn't say either. It sounds like a good question for a CM at guest services.
