14.99 is the cost of a standard band that resort guests and APs get complementary and so that price will be discounted off the cost of the special bands making the cost $10 instead of the 24.99 rack rate

Doubtful, people still need room keys. This gives Disney more $$$$ and make it look like people are getting a deal and makes it worth designing all the different bands.

Not at all. It's the beginning of charging for them. Very different things

I don't think they will start charging for magic bands per se. If anything the basic color bands cost is already baked into the cost of the room. As others have pointed out this is to move higher cost magic bands at a perceived discount (even though its not). Plus the amount of data they are getting from guests wearing magic bands far out weighs the cost of providing.

Hopefully they will always offer the free ones. But if they had of had this program a few months back, I will admit, they would have gotten more $$$$ from me.

I didnt watch the video yet but Im holding out hope it ends with "Guests who decline their included MagicBands are entitled to one extra FP+ to use at their discretion"

I just posted that I have 8 days because that is what MDE says I currently have left, however that new video says as long as you order them 11 days before arrival they will be shipped to your home, which actually gives me 28 days to order and still get delivered to my home! And it also says if you order after that then your MB will be waiting for you at the hotel, so you may even be able to order just a few days in advance and pick them up at the hotel. So I will not be ordering any new bands until this goes live! (I will pack along our old ones in case this doesn't work out though).

Someone let me know if I am misinterpreting anything.

I think the 11 days before means you pick them up at the front desk when you check in. They are usually mailed a month prior to the stay.

I think they will save money with this, too. Once people pay for an upgraded band, they are more likely to use them on a future trip, rather than just getting a new free band every time.
