APs and Resort guests can now upgrade their magicband

Ok, here’s a new wrinkle to the debacle. I ordered upgraded bands the afternoon of the 20th. I ordered four upgrades and one plain blue. I received the confirmation email for exactly what I had ordered, however, about two days later my husband’s Pirates band showed as a plain yellow band (the color he had selected prior to the upgrade) in MDE, so I didn’t know what I would be receiving. My bands came today and I did indeed receive a yellow band for him. Now here’s the wrinkle. I also received an email today from ShopDisneyParks that part of my order could not be fulfilled as ordered due to it being sold out and that I would receive a plain grey band and would not be charged the upgrade fee. Also, they were giving me a code to get $15 off an upgraded band to order through ShopDisney and a code for free 2-day express shipping! So I can still get the upgraded band, just without his name in it.

And, oh by the way, the upgraded band he ordered originally is available on ShopDisney. Go figure.

So, basically because they sent a plain yellow band for your DH instead of the one you ordered, you received a $15 off code through ShopDisney - is that correct? I wish they would just do that for everyone at this point so I could order our darn bands!

Yep. And free 2-day shipping. Just to clarify, I received that email the day my bands were delivered to my house, so check your email once you receive your bands. I agree they should do that for everyone, and I think they should do it PRIOR to sending a basic band. That’s a waste of you ask me. Just say “we can’t fulfill your order. Here’s a $15 coupon. Order your own.” And another “oh by the way”, you can use it on any Band except Limited Release ones. So you could even order one of the new solid colors.
 
I received my Magic Bands today, but still no charge. They were what I ordered one blue and one upgrade. The blue band came with a luggage tag, the upgrade did not.
 
So I ordered last Tuesday. Got my confirmation email and then nothing. My mde doesn’t show any bands in the circles by my family names. I can’t grt into the magic band section it just gives me the 7 dwarves notification error. I finally got an email yesterday that they delayed my order. I don’t travel until September so I’m just going to wait and see what happens and let the people traveling sooner get squared away. It’s just crazy

Ha! Now it makes sense why I only received two luggage tags (can’t explain why I got five straps for them though. 🙄). We had two regular and three upgraded bands.
Side note that just occurred to me. I’m surprised, after they made the point to emphasize that the complimentary bands come from Disney Worldwide Services and the upgraded bands from Magic Kingdom Inc, that they all arrived in the same box.
 
Dh has just spoken to Disney and they have said his band is no longer available and that he will get an email from Disney with other options...... will wait and see how that works out. From the CM he spoke with advised him that they have had many many calls about this and lots of people have been getting sent just plain ones.
Seems to be really poorly handled on Disney’s side.

I just don't understand how a company of this size cant better predict demand. Or if they know its a limited number say such in their announcement and add a "Hurry first come first serve" to the announcement. I would fire someone from my team if they ran a project like this.

I only received one strap with my luggage tag. I also noticed the magical rewards card does not have the reservation no on it or the dates of my trip like in the past. I hope this will not be a problem because in the past I have used several of the discounts. Once again the good news is I received the bands I ordered.

Exactly it’s been an absolute shambles from the start.
 
I guess I was lucky-I ordered mine the first day they were available and was able to get on the webpage after about 3 tries every thirty minutes, ordered the Tink and BB8 ones, and they came in today exactly as I ordered. The rest of my party stuck with the colored bands so far, but they have not come in of course for our early September trip. Hope the pixie dust stays on through time to make our fast passes!
 
Out of curiosity, has anyone from outside the US received an email with the specific bands listed in the confirmation for what will be delivered to the resort? I placed two orders on the first day and received generic emails for both saying that my magic band order will be waiting for me at the front desks, but there is no description of what those bands will be.

I was charged for one band (pending, then posted) where I upgraded and my mom did not, and I have not yet been charged for our family trip in June with multiple bands, though those were pending for a while (in case anybody wants the data point).
I did and I’ve been charged for both.

The CM said that I should expect an email, but nothing has shown up yet. I'm annoyed that the issue happened only b/c the missing band was for my 9-year old and I promised him I would buy him a replacement. So the resolution you received—discount on a full price one—is exactly what I was going to ask for. But it seems your issue got resolved a lot quicker than mine.

One final update. The charge hit my CC three days ago (for the correct amount of upgraded bands received). Ours bands arrived today.
 
So I went to complete my order and I'm showing the upgraded band, but my husband and nephew don't have the option to upgrade beyond anything outside the regular colors. Earlier today there was a message stating that the premium bands were unavailable, but the message is gone.
I called Disney, who transferred me to the IT department. According to the CM I spoke with in IT, they've temporarily turned off the option to upgrade, and she didn't have an ETA *shrug*

Ironically after reading your post, I asked my wife and there was an email with a discount code. We were able to order the same MB that my son wanted originally with the discount. As long as this comes in, then all Is good.
 
It is so frustrating to have to check the MDE every day to try and catch the premium bands upgrade (whenever they replenish the stock). I am just hoping that they get this whole thing worked out in time for us to order our magic bands - thankfully we still have 60 days to order, but who knows how long this will be an issue.
 
I've received our upgraded bands on Friday, but have not been charged. There was a pending charge for a while, but it dropped off last week. Nothing has come through since then. :confused3
I ordered 4 Magic Bands on Monday May 20 for our trip on July 7. When I looked at MDE 3 of us had the correct band showing but they 4th was just a white circle. I received a shipping notice a few days later showing delivery today. There was no charge on my credit card so I wasn't sure what to expect. The package just arrived and much to my surprise everything was correct - bands and printing on the back. MDE still shows the white circle for one of our girls but the serial number is correct. I still have not seen a charge to my credit card.
Ok, so this is what happened to me as well. Ordered, showed as pending for days and days but no confirmation of shipping. Pending charge fell off and never was charged, so I figured they just dropped the order...bands showed up today just as ordered and my card was not charged at all and the pending is still gone?

Would they just give them free because of all the trouble with the rollout? I'm not going to complain! :rolleyes1

Also, trip isnt until early September.

Glad you did get it! We were able to order a Wall-e one that wasn’t even available for upgrade, so that was good.
 
I am very happy to see Disney is trying to make this right with those whose orders came wrong. I hope they figure out the bugs/process soon with ordering these as it’s a cool idea. Just horrible execution! I will post back if we ever get charged for our order of correct ones we received.
