It's another picture question today. And depending on how accurate your answer is, I might be tempted to offer some bonus points.

Now I've been a bit naughty and used PaintShop to obscure the details on the banner because they included a date and that would have absoultely given it away, but I'll award you at least one point if you get in the right area...

Will someone PLEASE stop me from coming back and pouring over this picture. I think that today and yesterday I have probably spent 4-5 hours trying to find an answer. And allthough I have many (MANY!) possibilities - really I am still no closer to the answer

I'm going to leave this question open for a while longer as it looks like it's a lot more difficult than I thought.

If you don't know, please do PM me with a guess, as a number of people who have guessed so far have come VERY close and they will be getting points because of that!

As a little hint I will point out some details on the photo to you that you may have missed - clearly the hotel is not finished and the people in white are actually wearing hard hats... so it's not opening day. But it's obviously a celebration of some sort - just what though, is the question...

Well, here comes the moment you've all been waiting for...

The answer is that it was a gala celebration held on 12th April 1991, to mark the one year countdown to opening day. That's why I had to obscure the dates on the banner as it would have been too easy.

I gave a point to anyone who mentioned things like 'the opening of the Information Centre' or 'building work on the Castle being finished' as these were also marked by big press events, so you were on the right lines, but these two happened in December 1990 and October 1991 respectively.

As I mentioned previously, SandraVB79 came closest as she got it right that it was an anniversary to opening day (but just missed out on the correct date) so that's why she got two points.

Catgirl, these quizzes are such an addiction, it's "awful"!!! I googled in between two meetings and didn't have time to double check my answer!!!! Usually, I know the answer just like that OR I have to search for hours and hours and hours... I think in the mean time, after 3 months of quizzes like these, I must have seen about every possible picture of DLP!!

(and in the meanwhile, I am collecting questions for my quiz, on all the obscure little websites!!!!)
