April weather in St. Pete?

Looking to add a few days in St Pete Beach the first week of April...what is the weather like that time of year? How warm is the Gulf? Has anyone stayed at the Howard Johnson's on the beach in St. Pete Beach? Any other places are welcomed! Thanks

Also how far from Disney? Is it better to fly into Tampa then MCO? Thanks

St. Pete Beach is definitely closer to the Tampa Airport than Orlando. SPB is about 40-45 minutes SW of the Tampa Airport, while Disney is a little less than two hours NE of the Tampa Airport. If it were me, doing Disney first and then the beach next, I'd fly into and out of Tampa rather than Orlando.

Weather

The weather is usaully great that time of year mid to upper 80's with some 90 deg days every now and then.

It probably would be easier to fly into Tampa if your beach days are during the first part of the trip. Then head up to Orlando and depart from there.

We usually fly into Orlando and drive down to the beach. We love the ride over the bay on the way to the beach! It takes us anywhere from 1-1 1/2 hrs to drive from Disney to Maderia Beach which is just north of St. Petes beach.Places To eat
