April vs. July Dillema

We had a trip planned for April school vacation 2013 but had to reschedule for lots of reasons . Looking to re-book the trip for 2014 but it looks like Easter will fall over school vacation next year We could go in late June/ early July right when school gets out but the crowds don't look much better and I assume the heat and humidity will be worse.

What is the better of two evils? April break over Easter or July crowds and heat?

I went once in April (well I have gone more then once in April but back then it was just the MK & maybe Epcot).

We went the week before Easter. We arrived on Saturday, Sunday was Palm Sunday & it wasn't so bad. I noticed the crowds picked up by Thursday, Friday & Saturday I did something that I never did before...I left the MK at about 10pm & they were open until midnight or 1am.

The lines were HORRIBLE! I vowed to never go during spring break ever again and I haven't.

That was in 1999 (we got engaged there that trip). We (my family pre marriage) had been going in the summer-end of July/first week of August for quite some time. Yeah it was crowded but it wasn't like Easter week.

So I vote for July. Although I went in July in 2005 and it was the hottest trip to WDW I had ever been on.

FYI, with the heat, go early, leave at lunch time-take a nap, swim, laundry...a break basically. Then go back around 5 til closing. We have been doing that for years and I trained my husband that way too. We also make sure we do not go to a park on the day we arrive or leave & we take at least 1 if not 2 days off-pool days.

It is hot but in reality it is summer & it is hot everywhere!

I live in CT & it is hot & humid. Some days are oppressive. Some days I have no desire to go outside.

But I love Disney in the summer. For one, I don't need to bring pants, long sleeve shirts or a jacket of any kind, well other then a rain poncho. But if I get wet, it is warm rain & a relief when walking outside.

We go to the park early & do the early entry park of the day. THen we come back to our room to nap/swim/do laundry & then shower (again) & go back to the park in the evening.

We do make sure we don't do anything on our arrival day & departure day other then sit at the pool & go to Chef Mickeys. We also make sure we have at least 1, if not 2 non park days.

We are going in August & we are going from a Saturday to the following Monday. I only have a 5 day park hopper so I have 3 days of no parks. But one of those days we are going to a water park but it won't be as rushed as one of the theme parks & we won't be there until 10pm or later.

And remember every place has A/C. Heck you can be standing in line outside & feel the rush of air from the ride.

We did Aug last year and yes it was hot, but it was a lot of fun. We did the water parks a couple of days and it was great. I also love packing less clothes.

I say go for the summer

I have been in mid May and around the 4th of July. It was hot in May and June/July but I would probably pick to go then instead of at Easter. Like others have stated, you can take breaks and the parks stay open late so you can enjoy the parks at night in the warm weather.
