My husband was fortunate enough to just get a bonus at work. He has suggested that we use some of the $$ for an April vacation trip. Our kids' school break is April 17-20. We have 3 kids ages 3.5, 7 & 8. Disney is out as we just went in Dec. Airfares that week to anywhere are through the roof (I.e. Bos to Orlando is $700 a ticket even if we go Fri to Fri). Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions on a location to try, maybe somewhere off the beaten path. We're open to pretty much anything warm, U.S., Mexico, Cruise, Carribean, wherever. Any suggestions?? We'd like to keep it under $1000 per person if possible including food, airfare, lodging, etc. Thanks!!

Do the cruises start in April from Boston to Bermuda? Then you wouldn't have to pay for airfare!

Gettysburg PA to tour the battlefield
Also Skyline Drive and Luray Caverns is a few hours south.

Oops I saw the $1000 and thought that was your total budget.

Myrtle Beach?

You could fly on Monday, Spirit Air, $136 (one way).

Returning on Friday, US Air, $245 (one way).

Barefoot Resort, 2 bedroom villa, in North Myrtle (great location) is $109 per night on hotels.com. (Plus tax)

That's about $2500 for airfare x 5 plus lodging.

That leaves plenty in the budget for meals and entertainment. LOTS of fun things to do down there. And if you get a condo you can have inexpensive meals there as well.

Not sure where you are located, but I priced out Hilton Head Island and driving from Providence, RI and staying on the Island, renting a car, was right about $1,000 for me and dd13, ds12 and ds6. I was looking to go the 15th thru the 19th. There is a gold tourny that week however.

I also priced cruises and a 4 day Carnival cruise from Florida was about $1,400. Of course we needed to get to Florida so that was out

Oh forgot to add Southwest has a cool new feature. You can input your budget, the number of people and what type of vacation you would like and they find you a little vacation. Pretty neat

Do all of you have passports? I don't know how fast they can process them these days and I think almost all out of the US destinations require them.
