A little late to be reviewing restaurants but better late than never. I wanted to make sure I gave back since we got such great advice from everyone on the boards. Unfortunately I don't have pictures. I know the horror. My husbands not cool with taking pictures of the food. We do have a pretty good mix of reviews from counter services to sit downs.

First off the cast of characters

Me-Age shall remain a mystery. Considers herself a foodie, but not really. However I do like to try new things, likes most food with the exceptions of mushrooms, lamb and shellfish.

Al-Around my age. Loves red meat, potatoes, the occasional veggie. Doesn't care for cheese, sauces on his food or mushrooms.

DS-turned 8 on the vacation. Super picky eater. We make him try new things all the time, he just doesn't like, well, pretty much anything. Dislikes things on sight. Loves chicken fingers, cheese pizza, bacon.

DD-5. The more adventurous of the two. Likes to try new things, doesn't have a big appetite buts eats a well rounded group of food at each meal. Favorites include pasta (no sauce), any veggie as long as its raw, turkey.

Unfortunately there were a few scheduled/planned both CS & TS towards the end of the trip (last 3 dayss) that didn't happen due to some unplanned events. We did make the best of it and ended up bringing home about 12 Snack credits worth of food as well as 4 CS of Uncrustable meals for the trip just so we wouldn't lose them.

First up

Saturday, April 17th Boma-We flew out of Manchester NH around 10 am but because of a layover and another stop (I will plan better next time, saving a couple hundred bucks is not worth a 10 hour travel day) we were pretty beat by the time we got to CSR. We grabbed our Garden Grocer stuff, headed to the room for a quick look around and grabbed a taxi to Boma. We had an 8 pm ADR and checked in about 10 minutes prior. The restaurant was hopping, with many people in the wait area. It gave us a bit to look around, which was great. The resort is beautiful, I wished we had more time before it got dark to look around outside. This was the only restaurant that we really waited well past our ADR. We didn't get seated until about 8:40, with the two over tired kids and a cranky husband it wasn't a good thing.

We were seated by a lovely hostess towards the back of the restaurant near the windows. I'm sure if it wasn't getting very dark out it would have been a spectacular view. A wait person, who was not ours, stopped by to tell us our waiter was busy but she would get out drinks and we could head up to the buffet. We filled out plates, came back to our drinks on the table. Everyone had the standard drinks, ice tea, lemonade, except me who had a Habernero Margarita, which was good. Now for dinner, we really had heard great things about this restaurant and went into it expecting to love it but we didn't. I am sure being over tired, etc. had something to do with it, but it just seemed to miss the mark for us. I do have to say the food was fresh, hot, and a fantastic variety we just didn't care for it.

We did try a little of everything between both of us, the kids pretty much stuck to standard kid fare, mac & cheese, chicken fingers, fruit and they were happy. One thing I ate, which I would go back to the restaurant for was the Chicken Coconut Curry soup. It was outstanding. THe prime rib wsa decent but not great, the ribs were not good, chicken okay. Overall it just didn't seem to meet the hype for us. It wasn't the best way to start the trip, but the next day certainly turned it around.

We headed out bright and early to hit rope drop and the mad rush to TSM. After a productive mornings of attractions we found ourselves right near Starring Rolls around 11:45 am. Deciding to beat the mad rush we grabbed an early lunch.

The biggest downfall about this restaurant is the set up. It's hard to navigate around if there is any crowd. Other than that, its great. Al got the Black Forest Ham Sandwich, an eclair and a water. I got the Turkey Focaccia, a Butterfinger cupcake and a water. The kids both got the uncrustable kids meal. You will see this theme with most CS for the kids. The sandwiches were both fantastic. I had to eat mine with a knife and fork it was so huge. The cupckae, out of this world, too big really we all shared it and had some left over. I never even got to try the eclair as he devoured it. A greta use of CS credits. We will definitely go back here again.

We checked in about 25 minutes early for our 6:45 ADR. We knew we wouldn't be seated but it was raining, again so we figured we'd at least try. I brought the kids over to the Kidcot station and Al went over to Rose & Crown to get us a couple of drinks to go. While we waited I had a Welsh Dragon and he enjoyed a Guinness.

We were called promptly at 6:45 pm. The restaurant was busy, they were turning walk ups away which we saw pretty much all week. We were seated near the kitch door, which was a theme for us most of the week unfortunately. If it was as busy as it was I would have requested to be moved but knew we'd end up waiting quite a while so we just took the table. Our server was great. Our son was wearing his Bday button even though his actual birthday was not until Friday. She made a big deal of him anyways.

For Dinner Al had the Le Cellier experience, which included, the spicy chicken & sauage on polenta, salt crusted prime rib & Creme Brule. I paid OOP for the Canadian Cheese soup and got the NY Strip with the augratin potatoes (not on the current menu) for dinner as well as the Creme Brule for dessert. I was originally going to ask to substitute the mashed potatoes for the augratin, and I wished I had. They were not good at all. Both steaks were fantastic and the chicken & suasage appetizer was great, I've never liked polenta before but apparently I've just never had polenta that was well prepared, because this was excellent.

As for the kids DS had the cheese pizza, with carrots & celery and DD had the kids pick with pasta, carrots & celery and fruit. They both had make your own sundaes for dessert, which for our son came on a plate decorated for his birthday and a card signed by all the servers. Dinner was great and I would go back here again in a heartbeat.

Great start! Sorry Boma wasn't that great for you, but it sounds like you loved LeCellier! Terrific! Can't wait to read the rest of your reviews! I have to tell you, my DH WAS ok with taking pics of the food, and it is HARD!! We hardly got any pics! So don't feel bad!

Great start-more please!

Don't worry about the photos.;) My family doesn't like that I take pix before every meal but I do it anyway! Sometimes my DD10 will assist and hold up a napkin behind the plate for a better shot. :rotfl: Oh, and I've gotten so bad about taking food pix that I took some just the other night of our meal at PF Changs here at home. Looking back I wish we had some pictures of the meals we had as kids-so I take them now. So who cares if I get a few funny looks.:rotfl2:

I felt the same way about Boma-that reality didn't live up to the hype. I would classify myself as an adventurous eater, too, so was looking forward to trying the African specialities. I am not a fan of ginger really and I think some of the buffet dishes include that? :confused3 I did like the soups very much and the curry pasta salad was very scrumptious; I wish I had some now. Our waitress, although efficient and competent, could have been more personable.

All that said my DS 11 LOVED this place-absolutely LOVED it. We went last year and he still talks about it. (Might have had something to do with impressive dessert offerings! He does have a sweet tooth, unlike me.) He says we have to go again our next trip!

Enjoying your reviews so far.
