We've have not been to Disneyland yet and have been planning on going in 2016. I was really excited to see the dates are released for Dapper Day 2016 on May 1st. I am also hoping the 60th Anniversary celebration will still be going on. Here are my questions below. Remember I'm a DL newbie and have never been on the West coast.

1. For Dapper Day the expo is on Saturday April 30th and Sunday May 1st is the actual Dapper Day in the park. Is it safe to assume that crowds will be a max capacity those days? Other than those days what should be expected for crowds the week before and after? We would really like to go for DD but not if even the days before and after will be horrendous crowds.

2. How will weather be this time of year?

3. Should we anticipate any of the 60th festivities to be still going on?

4. Any other suggestions for this trip/time frame?

Thanks :)

I doubt the park will reach maximum capacity. Usually the park only reaches capacity sometime during the week between Christmas and New Year, July 4th, July 17th and a random few other days that are inconsistent from year-to-year. I haven't hear of the park reaching capacity due to Dapper Days in the past. It could always happen, but I think there would need to be some other major activity happen at the same time for the park to reach capacity.

HydroGuy has a thread (Detailed Weather Data for DLR) that will help. I would say, dress in layers and be prepared for anything from cool to hot.

It's hard to say at this point when the 60th will formally conclude. I would anticipate that the new parade, fireworks, and WoC will still be presented (for many years to come in truth), but some of the other activities/elements may be finished. We probably won't know more for a while.

Actually, it's a great timeframe to go. The crowds should be very manageable and the weather near perfect. I live in So Cal and my favorite time of year is April-May. I would assume the 60th festivities would continue but at this point we don't know for sure. The Dapper Day events are quite fun and the crowds so classy. The hotel rates can't be beat - I hope you book and go for it! The only drawback may be early closing times during the week and a limited firework/parade schedule.

Joining in to watch your thread. We were thinking of checking out Dapper Dan days next year too.

We have been to DL at the end of April/early May, as well as this past spring Dapper Day on March 1st.

Dapper day wasn't too crowded. It was raining so that may have affected it. Usually the only increase in crowds is that weekend and the day of the actual event (if its on a Friday). We attended both spring 2015 and fall 2014 Dapper day and found the weekdays leading up or after the actual event were fairly low crowds.

The weather is very nice. Cool in the morning and evening. Bring layers. We did hit over 90 degrees our last 2 days though.

Dapper Day is a lot of fun. I think it is a great time to visit!

I was at the most recent Dapper day in March. The crowds weren't bad at all for a weekend though there was rain in the forecast, which always helps. Early May is typically very reasonable with crowds as it's after spring break but before summer. There will be fireworks, the new parade, and the new WOC on the weekend, but as stated above, hard to know if other 60th stuff will be around.

also joining thread anticipating answers. we will be there 5/15-5/20 2016 and I've also been curious if 60th will still be going on.

I'm glad our trip was during Dapper Days this year even though we didn't dress up. It was so fun to see how Dapper the participants were- they had amazing outfits. When I saw the 60th anniversary commercial this week and the scene of the opening day crowds all dressed up, I thought of the loyal Dapper Day-ers who share here on the DIS. The March 2015 DD crowds were low and logically there will be more crowds in May 2016, but probably not unbearable. Dapper Days will add more magic to your visit.
